Yes !.!.!. there are many variations (cream cheese, whipped cream, glaze, etc!.) but if you ever eat a bakery cake and wonder why the frosting doesn't taste buttery, it is because they use Crisco (or another solid, white, shortening)!. Very common type of frosting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You need some form of fat!. Whether that's butter, margarine, shortening, etc!. Otherwise, the icing will get crunchy as the water base evaporates!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
