Here are a few ideas:

-Cheddar jalapeno cornbread!. Just take a box of instant cornbread, prepare it as instructed then add in 1 chopped (seeds removed) jalapeno, 1 C!. of sharp cheddar cheese & 1/2 C!. of cream style corn!.

-Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes: Bake up about 6 sweet potatoes/yams!. When they are tender, remove them from the heat!. Let them cool to room temp!. then slice in half horizontally!. Scoop out most of the inside of the sweet potatoes leaving the "shell" intact!. Combine the sweet potato with cinnamon, brown sugar, and 1/2 C!. of melted butter!. Return the mixture to shells and rebake for 20 minutes at 350!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I really like to serve lighter sides when grilling, because between the meat and the mayo-based sides, everything just seems so heavy in the summer!. Try a viniagrette based corn salad (I make it as spicy as possible!.) I like mango salads too - SO easy to make!. Dice some slightly firm mango and toss with thinly sliced red onion, chopped cilantro, and some lime juice!. For desert, grilled fruit (plums and pineapple work very well) are always delicious, but store bought pies and cookies can save you a lot of time and energy too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Koolaide for the kids, because they always end up wasting cans of pop!. Hope you have great weather, and a great time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't do corn on the cob!.!.!. too messy and gets in teeth!. But I would do a corn casserole !. You are omitting many dishes people love with Bar B Que!. My friends would riot without potato salad!.

Corn Casserole

Easy and delicious!

Ingredients
1 can Creamed corn
1 can Whole kernel corn
1 stick Butter or margarine
8 oz!. Sour cream
1 pkg!. Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix

Preparation
Melt butter!. Mix all ingredients!. Pour into casserole dish!. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until browned!.

Note that you must use a Jiffy mix!. This is not a plug for Jiffy, but other muffin mixes for some reason just do not work as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A big platter of grilled vegetables is a wonderful addition to any BBQ!. I start the flat red onion on the tray while the grill heats!. All they need is to have the root end and the other end removed, halve them at the equator, stick a skewer through each half, brush with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano!. Then zuchinni sliced lenghtwise, quartered bell peppers (I cook these only skin side down, portobello mushrooms, and a couple of small whole tomatoes!. Make lots - if they don't get eaten they make wonderful sandwiches!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try making something like a strawberry shortcake for dessert!. go and buy the little shortcake things and cool whip(it has got to be cool whip or won't work) and some berries of any kind, and some vanilla pudding packs!. then when you're ready to eat dessert just pop the shortcake things on the grill for a little bit and mix the vanilla puddings w/ cool whip then when that's mixed add the defrosted or fresh berries, if you get the defrosted ones drain them first,!. don't forget to flip the cake things!. when both sides are toasted just plop mixture into the cakes and Bam an awesome dessert!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go to Sams and get a veggie platter and several different types of dip or salad dressing; boil some corn on the cob; make a good ol' yellow cake with chocolate icing! Yum! You can't get any more all American than that!

As far as "games" - trust me, not everyone will want to play, so just let folks talk and enjoy themselves!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
