Cooking question: Is the rice supposed to take that long to cook in the oven?!
I'm just wondering if I did something wrong with my recipe!.!.!.I combined diced (cooked) chicken, one cup uncooked Basmati rice, 1/4 cup water, some frozen mixed veggies, half a can (14!.5 oz) of chicken broth, 1/2 cup sour cream, and 8 oz!. melted cheddar cheese to make a casserole!. The thing is, it's been in there for an hour, and the rice is still on the crunchy side in some spots!. The oven is at 375 F!. Did I do something wrong, like not put enough liquid in, or is rice normally supposed to take that long to soften up!?!? Thanks!
P!.S!.--I added a little more broth just a few minutes ago b/c it seemed that most of the liquid had cooked out of the casserole!. Good idea!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes-- A good idea to add some more broth!.
I would have used cooked rice but I'm sure your rice will be fine!. Leave it in the oven until the rice softens!. Shouldn't take too much longer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you really arnt suppose to put rice in the oven because it can get hard from not cooking it enough or it can get hard from burning it!. it doesnt show the burning color so you should try to put more water or broth in there and see if that worksWww@FoodAQ@Com
Did you cover the baking dish!? That will help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
