Easy and Yummy Recipes?!

Question: Easy and Yummy Recipes!?
I have been living with my husband for about a year now, and when I moved in with him is when I really started to learn how to cook!. So over the past year I have been slowly learning a recipe at a time, but I still don't know enough to be able to make a good variety each week (we seem to have the same things each week)!. I am looking for some easy but good meals, and some others that will take some time also!. My husband is a meat and potato kind of guy, so the recipes have to be hearty enough to fill him and keep him full for awhile!.!.!. but good enough for me (a pasta girl) to really love them also!

Oh and if anyone knows any Slovak recipes!.!. please pass them by (my hubby is from Slovakia =])

ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

PAULOCHIK HALUPKI RECIPE

-

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
We still use this original recipe, which is sized for about 60 halupki - enough to feed 15 to 20!. I've found they can be frozen about 2 months and still taste good, up to 4 months and still taste decent!.

Cabbage - 2 heads for this recipe
3 lb!. Ground chuck
3/4 lb!. Ground pork
Salt & pepper
2 eggs
Garlic powder
Paprika
1/2 of a 2" onion, sauteed in 1/4 lb!. butter
just under 1 cup rice and equal amount water
1 large can (28 oz!.) Silver Floss sauerkraut
1 large can (28 oz!.) Hunts Tomato Sauce
1 large can (28 oz!.) Hunts Crushed Tomato
Prepare the cabbage - puncture the core with a knife, and boil about 45 minutes (if using two heads, boil separately)!. After cooling, prepare the leaves - pull them off the head in as large a piece as you can!. You'll probably have to take thin slices off the spines and thicker veins!.

Mix the meat together and smell it!. Remember the smell of the meat!. Sprinkle on a little salt and pepper, and knead the mixture by hand!. Smell again!. Keep adding salt and pepper until it just barely masks the smell of the meat!.

Cook the rice until all the water is absorbed!. Set aside!.

Mix the eggs into the meat mixture!. Smell the mixture - remember the smell!. Sprinkle in a little garlic powder and paprika; knead well!. Keep mixing in small amounts of garlic powder and paprika until you can detect a garlic smell!. Add the juice from the sauerkraut, the rice, sauteed onions, and 1/3 cup of the tomato sauce!. Mix thoroughly!.

Put a small amount of oil in the bottom of a BIG pot!. Roll a small handful of the meat mixture into a firm oval; wrap with a cabbage leaf!. Tuck the edges into the roll!. Line the bottom of the pot with the halupki; cover with a little bit of the sauerkraut, some tomato sauce, and a layer of leaves!.

Keep building layers, using the "bad" and small cabbage leaves for the layering!. Top with the crushed tomatoes, remaining sauerkraut, and the very top is cabbage leaves!. Add enough water to totally cover!.

Stick a wooden spoon down to the bottom (CAREFULLY, along the side of the pot) to break any air bubbles between the layers - do NOT puncture any of the halupki! - and add more water, if necessary!. Repeat this several times, because air between the layers will make a terrific mess when the pot begins to boil!

Bring to a boil, then turn the heat down; simmer for at least four hours, then keep warm until served!. We always prepare the halupki the night before - simmer two hours, turn off the heat overnight (do NOT refrigerate ! ! Just leave the pot on the stove), and simmer another two hours the next morning!.

Serve with mashed potatoes and milk - although a dry white wine also works well!. A lot of work, but well worth it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

These are some of my husbands favorite home cooked meals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, hello! For any new beginner to cooking, there are tons of easy meals (and also not-so-easy meals with step by step instructions) to really teach you how to become a kitchen goddess (as I like to refer to it!. Cooking is my forte)!. One thing I learned in my Culinary classes years ago was that you can always turn something simple into something incredible!.!. and nobody has to actually know just how simple it was for you to make, as long as it's delicious and fills them up!

Here are some of my own recipes that I would suggest to you for starters:

---Easy Beef & Macaroni----

You'll boil a box of elbow macaroni!. Meanwhile, as the elbow mac is boiling, you will be frying about a pound of ground beef!. I fry it seasoned with garlic salt and onion powder!. You should also use a jar of Hunts Beef Gravy!. You can microwave but I prefer to put it in a pot and heat it on the stove!. When the elbow mac is cooked, you will use a strainer to drain out the water and place the macaroni in a large mixing bowl!. Then, when the ground beef is done, you will release it from the frying pan into the large mixing bowl as well!. Then, you'll add half a can of stewed tomatoes (heated up prio to adding them to the mixing bowl), and then you will add the beef gravy and mix very well!. Next, you'll open a can of whole-kernel corn!. Drain the juice and add half of the can of the corn to the large mixing bowl (you don't have to pre-heat the corn because with all the hot meat, noodles, and gravy, the corn will heat up on its own)!. Continue mixing very well!. Last, sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar cheese all over the top and serve!. It's quite delicious!. And, it will satisfy you and your husband, since he loves meat and you love pasta!.

In my opinion, ground meats, like ground beef-chicken-turkey, are so helpful and versatile!. You can do just about anything with them!. I'm hispanic, so I really enjoy making pastellilos!.

All you need is some ground beef, american (or cheddar-if you'd like) cheese, and some discos (by Goya)!. I cook the ground beef with garlic salt, onion powder, some chopped onion, and as the ground beef is almost finished cooking, I add the cheese so it has the chance to melt in with the ground beef!. Then, you add it to a disco, fold over, and close by using a fork to push down on the ends!. It's quite delicious!

I like to make my own hamburgers!. If your man is a potato and meat guy, he might like this particular recipe!.

I take the ground beef, using 1 cup bread crumbs, one egg, and chopped onion, and I mix it well with my hands and then shape into burger-like patties!. Then, I fry in a bit of oil!. Meanwhile, I peel some potatoes and boil them until they're soft!. When they become soft, I then drain the water and mash them with 1 cup of milk and some margarine!. As they become mashed, I add some garlic salt, and continue mixing well!.
When the burgers are done, serve on a hamburger roll with a side of some home-made mashed potatoes and enjoy! Don't forget boiled corn on the cob or a side of baked beans!Www@FoodAQ@Com
