Answers:
Typically, a meal ends with fruit as a dessert at Chinese meals, but they do have some great desserts at celebrations!.

Chinese Sticky Cake (Nian Gao) is traditionally served at Chinese New Year celebrations and it's nummy!.

? cup water
1? cups dark brown sugar
1? cups rice flour (you need glutinous rice flour, which is available at Asian grocery stores)
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
? cup dates, chopped

Grease a 7" cake tin!.

Put the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to the boil!. Simmer, stirring, until the sugar has dissolved!. Allow to cool!.

Mix flour, egg and milk together in a bowl!. Add the syrup and stir thoroughly until smooth then add dates and mix well!. Pour the batter into the cake tin and steam for about 45 minutes, or until the cake starts to come away from the edge of the tin!.

Leave in the tin to cool, then serve in thin slices!.

Almond cookies are also popular at parties and celebrations!.
? cup white sugar
? cup soft brown sugar
? cup margarine
1 egg
? teaspoon almond essence
2 cups plain flour
? teaspoon baking powder
Sesame seeds and blanched almond halves for decoration

Preheat the oven to 180oC, gas mark 4!. Grease a baking sheet!.

Sieve together the flour and baking powder!.

Beat the margarine and sugars together until light and fluffy!. Add the egg and almond essence and beat again!. Fold in the flour to make a smooth dough!.

Divide the dough into walnut-sized balls!. Flatten slightly and dip the top in sesame seeds spread over a saucer!. Gently press an almond half into the centre and place on the baking sheet, leaving room for the cookies to spread!.

Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden brown!. Store in an airtight container!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Fortune cookies are so passe!. They aren't even Chinese! Look it up, hun!. A great Chinese dessert is Buchi-buchi, a deep friend, filled rice ball!. It is essentially a flat round of rice dough wrapped around a filling of black sesame paste, rolled in sesame seeds and fried to a crisp, golden outer and a chewy, creamy moist inside!. What's great about this is you can use a wide variety of fillings, like chocolate, peanut butter balls, mashed sweetened root crops and the like!. Happy cooking!Www@FoodAQ@Com
