How to make soda floats with less foam?!

Question: How to make soda floats with less foam!?
When making root beer floats (and other floats with other kinds of soda) should you out in the ice cream first or the soda!? And how much soda should you add to make less foam!?

BTW, who has tried this with other types of soda!? They were selling floats outside of Safeway one Sunday afternoon, and were making them with either root beer or orange soda, and I tried the orange one!. How about with Colas, strawberry soda, fruit punch soda, Sprite (or Seven Up) or Dr Pepper!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You won't get quite as much foam if you fill the glass half full with soda and then put the ice cream in as you do if you pour the soda over the ice cream!. You are going to have foam!. It is the nature of the reaction of the carbonation in the soda with the cream in ice cream!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yep, other users are correct by suggesting to pour the soda first!. However, another tip is when you pour your soda into your float hold your glass at an angle and allow the soda to run down the side of the glass and not directly into the bottom of the glass!.!.!.!.in other words let it slide down slowly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
