What can i be my first plate?!


Question: What can i be my first plate!?
i work here in a spanish family here in spain and i wanted to cook shrimp curry for the second plate!. what do you think is the best first plate instead of salad!? can you give me some recipes for the first plate/!.!.

Mulligatawny Soup: great as first dish!!!

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 carrot, diced
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons curry powder
4 cups chicken broth
1/2 apple, cored and chopped
1/4 cup white rice
1 skinless, boneless chicken breast half - cut into cubes
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
1 pinch dried thyme
1/2 cup heavy cream, heated

DIRECTIONS
Saute onions, celery, carrot, and butter in a large soup pot!. Add flour and curry, and cook 5 more minutes!. Add chicken stock, mix well, and bring to a boil!. Simmer about 1/2 hour!.
Add apple, rice, chicken, salt, pepper, and thyme!. Simmer 15-20 minutes, or until rice is done!.
When serving, add hot cream!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd do a cold soup, like a vichyssoise!. It's a good summer soup!. Here's a recipe (very easy to make)
2 potatoes
3 large leeks, washed well
3 tablespoons butter
3 cups chicken stock
1 bay leaf
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream (whipping cream)
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly-ground white pepper
Fresh chives, to garnish
Peel and thinly slice the potatoes!. Remove the tops from the leek and finely chop the white bulbs only!.
Heat the butter in a large saucepan!. Add the potatoes and leek and cook gently, without browning!. Add the chicken stock and bay leaf, and simmer!.
Stir in the cream, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and cool the mixture in the refrigerator!.
Serve the mixture in chilled dishes and garnish with the chives!. If you have shrimp cocktail dishes, large martini glasses (especially those with ice compartments), sherbet Champagne glasses or other other interesting goblets, consider using them as an alternative to bowlsWww@FoodAQ@Com
