Roasting bones in a Microwave?!

Question: Roasting bones in a Microwave!?
A Beef Stock recipe calls for the bones to be first roasted!. I don't have a normal oven, Whats the best way to roast them in a micro wave oven !?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Steaming in a microwave or boiling is not roasting!. You need to have surface heat to sear the outside of the flesh and bone!. I would suggest you saute them in your stock pot with a drop of oil!. Low to medium heat!. Brown each side before turning!. When brown on all sides remove the bone to a plate and deglaze(loosen) the brown caramelized essence on the bottom of the pot with some red wine, broth or water!. Use this as the start of your beef broth !.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not sure roasting them in a microwave would produce the desired result, which is flavour from the 'crisping' of the bones!. It would be hard to crisp them without burning them, I think!. Have you got a toaster oven!? That would work!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You cant roast in a microwave!. But you can brown the bones on the stove top though in a cast iron or non stick pan set on medium heat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
