Question: I baked a sponge cake and now I need ideas for a filling that can save it!.!.!.!.!?
I'd prefer if I didn't put jam into it, that's a little boring!. I just want a few interesting or just tasty ideas for a filling and what to put on top!. I can't cook at all but it's my friend's birthday and I just thought I'd try to make her one!. It didn't turn out very well so that's why I'm looking for a nice filling/topping!. Thank you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The classic sponge is the perfect base for any sort of filling/frosting/topping!. Since a sponge cake is light, obviously, you can balance the lightness of the cake with a deliciously fudgy icing, like classic chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter etc!. If you like the fluffy, airy texture of a sponge cake, you can also play it up by using a seven minute frosting or boiled icing!. If your sponge layers are beyond masking as a layer cake, you can make a trifle!. Simply break up the cake and soak it in some lemon-sugar syrup!. Then layer it alternately your favorite flavor of pudding and whole or diced fresh fruit!. It's all in the hands of the baker!. ; )

P!.S!. Even if your cake doesn't turn out perfect, the act of kindness is more important!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can get cream from any shop to decorate the cake or you can make strawberry or resberry sauce to put on the cake!. recipe is following:
1 cup strawberries or resberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
put al these ingridient in sauce and boil them on me medium heat, keep stir it until it get soften, thick and mashed!. Turn off heat and put it in fridge for cool down!. first decorate cake with whipped cream and then pour you strawberry sauce on it!. you can get whipped cream from any store and you have whipp it for 10 minutes to get best results!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can make a simple lemon syrup:

1 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water

boil until sugar is melted and thick!. pour over the underside of the cake!.!.!. and let cool!.!.!.

then top with simple sugar lemon frosting:

1 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 cup lemon juice

mix until smooth and sticky pour over the top of the cake!.!.!.

so it'll be the syrup on the bottom and frosting on the top!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Add a layer of super-sweet whipped cream spread more on top and add some green and gold Kiwi Fruit rings to the top!.
I would still add jam, but I would go to the store and find a flavour that is nice, but not often used!.
I have some Val's; Gold Kiwifruit Conserve that I think would be perfect!.
Imagine and enjoy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

turn it in to a trifle and no one will know as long as it tastes good basically get a deep glass pretty bowl and cut it up and layer blueberry filling /whip cream/cake/berries/whip/cake etc!.!. garnish and it makes a pretty presentation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Strawberries (preferably frozen cuz they get juice when thawed) mixed into cool whip!. It's tasty and kinda healthy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Whipped cream and strawberries is a tried and true caterer trick for rescuing uneven or slightly burned cakes!.!.!.Slice them evenly in as many layers as you can - 3 or more is nice but you didn't say what was the problem on "it didn't turn out very well" quote!. Just buy some heavy whipped cream ( or the can if you don't have the wherewithal or confidence to whip your own) and add REAL vanilla though at the end!.

Slice your strawberries fairly thin and pat them dryish if you plan to put this together much in advance!. Lay them out on the top in a pretty way!. Another way to do this is to add the strawberries only to the middle layer and to use dark chocolate shavings to the top! Tasty and easy (use your potato peeler or a sharp knife if you can' make curls then just crunch them up a bit and sprinkle evenly!.

You can personalize your creation without learning how to pipe frosting!.!.!.Just cut out a shape like a heart or something with your friends name (etc) on it and glue it to a toothpick!

Other easy ideas include making vanilla pudding for the center layer, add coconut to it, then use the whip cream on top with 2 or more kinds of fruit (Pineapple, canned mandarin oranges, frozen raspberries etc!.)

BUT be sure to put in in the refridgerator as soon as you make it! It is not a bad idea to put it briefly in the freezer!.!.!.and then in the refer!.!.!.if you need to put it together in advance!.!.!.(You don't want the red fruit to "bleed" on top!.

Well, thats all I got right now!. I can't recomend the canned frostings available in most stores!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
