Is there a substitute for walnuts in a carrot cake? Is it necessary?!


Question: Is there a substitute for walnuts in a carrot cake!? Is it necessary!?
I am going to make my mother a carrot cake, and I forogt wal-nuts, the little convenient store down th estreet doesn't carry them either : (
also, I don't have baking powder, bui I think that's rather arbitrary anyhow!. right!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I never put nuts in my carrot cake!. I really think you need the baking powder!. At the very least if you do not have the powder use 1 or 2 tsp!. of baking soda and some salt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you don't have to use walnuts, you can make it without, or try pecans!. but!.!.!. you kind of need baking powder!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can omit the walnuts but not the baking powder!.!. that is a leavening agent!.!. dont use it and your cake wont rise and weigh a tonWww@FoodAQ@Com

Actually, I've been baking carrot cakes to sell down at my Legion post for ten years now - and I never put nuts in 'em!. They always sell like hotcakes!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I prefer pecans!. However, you really don't have to use nuts!.!.!.!.it's just a little something extra that is nice!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
