I started making scallopped potatoes and I screwed up HELP!?!
I started making a recipe and it called for 1/4 of onnions!. I decided to double the recipe so I put in half a cup!. Then I started looking at the wrong recipe and it called for a cup so I put in 2 cups!. Then I realised my mistake!. So I tripled my recipe how much milk should I put in it calls for 2 and half cups!.
I could just kick myself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't worry about measuring the milk!. I never do!. I just put the potatoes in a casserole dish with the onions and salt and pepper and pour milk until it just covers the potatoes, sometimes I thicken it up with flour, dot with butter!. Bake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The rule is no matter how many potatoes or onions you have in the pan, pour milk in until you see it come up through the holes- so just before the potatoes are totally covered with milk is the right amount!.
You could have just spooned out some of the onion but since you already have more potato in pour in more milk til it looks right!. I don't think you are going to ruin this!.
For all of these calculations - I never use a recipe just layer potato, onion, flour, butter salt and pepper and pour milk in til you see it almost at the top of the potatoes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

OK!.!.!.!.you out in a half cup of onions then 2 more cups of onions!? So you've got 2 1/2 cups onions when the recipe only asked for 1/4 cup!.!.!.that would be 10x the original amount!.!.!.
I wouldn't really worry about the onions!.!.!.just put the cooked onions and potatoes in layers in a casserole dish, then put a little flour and butter in, then cover the layers !.!.!.DON'T DROWN THEM!.!.!. just until you see the milk coming up from the holes and bake!.
hope it works!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

2 and half cups times 3 is seven and a half cups!. However, if the recipe calls for 1/4 cup and you put in 2 cups, that's 8 times what the recipe called for, not "triple!." You'd need 20 cups of milk! (That;s 5 quarts, or more than a gallon)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Why would you triple the milk if you are only doubling the recipe!? The onions are going to water down so more milk is not a good idea!. But triple the amount of milk is 7 and a half cups!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hard to understand what you did!. From what I can tell, you only added the wrong amount of onion!. I would just get a slotted spoon and remove some of the onion!.
If you have a little too much, no harm!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

are you talking about onions, or potatoes!?
Im confused!.
Put in enough milk that you can begin to see it coming up the sides of the dish!. Dont drown them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

To triple 2 1/2 cups would be 7 1/2 cups!. The amount of onions do not have to be exact though--in my opinion!. I love onions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If that is the original amount, 7 1/2 cups!. that's a lot of liquid!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Make reservations - it is what I do when I **** up a recipe ROFL!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
