But I think it's very American!.!.!.tons of sugar!.

I'm French and when I do an American recipe, I usually use only one quarter of the sugar, otherwise it's too sugary for my taste!.

Americans love sugar, sweet sodas!.!.!.and they use fake sugar for sweetness!. Sometimes I buy something "sugarless", thinking, yeah!.!., no sugar!.!.!.but instead, I get tons of fake, chemical sweetness with bad aftertaste!.

Many years ago in pound cake every single thing actually did weigh a pound, a pound of milk, a pound of butter, a pound of sugar, a pound of flour and so on so forth but it was modified afterwards just so it is a dense and heavy cake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

almost 4 cups sugar is 1 pound so most pound cake recipes call for 3 cups!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.or for recipe information 2 cups sugar = 1 pound so 4 cups is 2 pounds and so on!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
