What is a good fish to eat that is not too fishy tasting?!
I want to start eating fish, but I'm not such a fan of the fishy taste!. What is a milder fish that is yummy!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I love tilapia, I stopped eating cat fish the day I had it! I swear by this fish and will not eat any other fish!. You can cook it any way you want also, fry, bake, broil, and grill!.
I like it fried like this
Creole-Seasoned Tilapia
1/4 cup all-purpose Flour
1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
1 tablespoon Creole seasoning
1/4 cup fat-free egg substitute
4 (6-ounce) tilapia fillets
4 teaspoons canola oil
lemon wedges
1: Combine the flour, parsley, & Creole seasoning on a sheet of wax paper!. Pour the egg substitute into a shallow bowl!.
2: Dip the fillets, one at a time, in the egg substitute, then coat with flour mixture!. Place the fillets on a platter; cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes!.
3: Heat oil in a large nonstick set over medium-high heat!. Add the the tilapia and cook until browned and just opaque in the cente, about 3 mintues on each side!.
I have this at least 3 times a month it is wonderful and very healthy for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Start off by using boxed fillets(generally white fillets are the best to begin with) or filleted and sliced fresh fish from your local supermarket!.This way there's barely a fish smell , if at all!.Once you get used to (fall in love!!) with these then you could progress onto buying whole fish and eventually - even gut them yourself! Just kidding, but here is a fantastic recipe:
Pan fry fish fillets until done and keep warm!.
(I love to use fresh, filleted Atlantic Salmon but frozen fish works perfectly as well)
Gently heat about 1/2 a cup of thickened cream!.When it reaches a sauce like consistency, add in 20g butter (regular, salted)and 1 1/2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice!. Continue stirring and cooking until butter is melted and the desired consistency is reached!.
Switch off stove and add in a little chopped fresh cilantro or parsley and a quick grind of black pepper!.
Serve immediately spooned over fish with a greek salad on the side!.
ENJOY!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Stick to white fleshed fish and avoid oily fish (like salmon) Cod, tilapia, flounder, trout are all good places to start!. Branch out from there!. Keep in mind that fresh fish doesn't taste fishy!. If your ordering from a restaurant avoid fish on specials because the kitchen is trying to sell the fish before it goes bad and the 'fishy' flavor will typically come w/it!. Once you figure out if you like fish go for the good stuff!. Tuna, mahi mahi, and Ono are good sushi grade options (you can eat them cooked to tempurature)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When looking for a fish with a mild flavor it is best to look for fish that does not contain a lot of oil!. Some of the mildest fish are Cod, Sole, Flounder, Tilapia, Halibut and Orange roughy!.
Another way to cut the fishy taste of fish is to use a marinaded!.
Just don't marinate to long!.

I agree with the first answer!. "If it's fishy, it's not fresh!." Fish shouldn't smell bad before you cook it !.!.!. that's a surefire sign that it's been sitting too long!.
Try milder fish like whitefish (tilapia, whiting, etc!.)!. Salmon and snapper do not taste like "fish" as much as some others!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with you and that is why I prefer the meatier fish, like tuna (tastes nothing like what is in the can - fresh tuna is sweet and tastes like filet mignon), salmon, halibut or swordfish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Tilapia or Salmon!. I like them both!. I fry the Tilapia and season it with Sazon seasoning by Goya!. As for the salmon, I sprinkle it with lemon juice and grill it to perfection!. It's quite tasty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i find that red snapper, or sole are both very mild!. i also like catfish, halibut, and fresh tilapia!. if you always buy fresh fish, it is a lot less fishy tasting!. (and smelling)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I love tilapia its not fishy and its really good and sometimes its not the fish it depends how you do your seasoningWww@FoodAQ@Com
