I bought some asparagus and I'm not sure how to prepare it?!

Question: I bought some asparagus and I'm not sure how to prepare it!?
I have a steamer, but I'm not even really sure how to use that, (it's a metal basket kind of deal!. It says it fits in most saucepans)!.

Do I need to cut the asparagus or anything!? also, what should I season it with!?

Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I think either boiling the asparagus or steaming is the best way (to steam place water in the bottom of a pan, the metal steamer on top, and then a lid)
To prepare the asparagus pick up the individual stem and bend it and it will snap in the place where its best to eat, discard the end and place the tips into the steamer!.
|Cook for about 3 minutes, depending how you like your veg!.

I like my asparagus with parmasen cheese and salt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've grown asparagus for years and it's awesome just about any way you make it, but here's a simple, fast and delicious way to make it!. You just need to wash and cut off the root end of the spears!. Heat up a tablespoon or so of olive oil in a frying pan and add one or two cloves of minced garlic!. Add the asparagus and stir fry it until it's just fork tender- don't overcook! also get on google and simply type in "asparagus recipes" and you'll have more ideas than you'll know what to do with!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not a fan of breaking off the ends-you lose too much!. Unless they're very woody I just cut off about 1/2 an inch to an inch (less if using the very thin ones)!. I really love asparagus (the pee thing aside) so I just steam them for a few minutes in the microwave with very little water maybe sprinkle a little salt on if that!. Try them in a pure way and see if you think they need anything more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have the same basket steamer
just break your asparagus, where it breaks is best, don't cut
steam with spear ends pointing up and break end down
steam about 10 min!. bring water to boil, then add asparagus, cover and 10 min!. check the break end!.!.!.actually we eat ours without any additions, it is good enough to stand on it's own flavor!.!.!.!.or you can make a butter, garlic sauce and pour over when doneWww@FoodAQ@Com

Its easy just rinse the asparagus and snap off the tough bottoms!.Slice the asparagus in half at an angle!. Boil water and add the asparagus!. Turn down the heat to a simmer and cook for 2 and a half minutes!. Take the asparagus out of the water and put into bowl with olive oil, salt and pepper and ,lemon zest and shake it around!.This is the best way that ive had it besides fried asparagus!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the stalks of asparagus can be quite woody, so you need to get rid of them!. You can either cut it off, or what i do, just snap them in half!. If you pretend like you're breaking a pencil, it usually breaks at the right point!. You can steam them, and then then put LOTS of melted butter and a bit of salt on it!. YUM!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

cut off the woody ends where it naturally snaps!.
saute' in a mixture of olive oil and butter with some garlic, season with salt and pepper!.
to steam, put wonder in saucepan, about an inch, put steamer in!. when water is boiling, add asparagus, let steam for a few minutes till bright green and taste for doneness, should be a little crunch!. take out, add salt and pepper and squeeze fresh lemon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

FIrst you need to cut it off where it naturally breaks!. Bend 2 or 3 until they naturally break and then line them all up and cut them off there!. I like to toss them in some olive oil and garlic and roast them in a 350 degree oven!. I like the lower temp because then all the asparagus is well cooked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Firmly grasp the asparagas spear in one hand and turn the end to 90 degrees with the other!. the spear will break where it is tender, use the broken off pieces chopped up for soup!. gently steam or boil the remaining pieces testing now and again, leave them slightly al dente, put in a dish with a couple of knobs of butter, eat and enjoy!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

one way i make it is i take a frying pan with a little water to steam the asparagus!. Then after a few minutes you want then to still be crunchy and bright green!. I take the asparagus out of the pan!. And then I take a smal pat of butter and some mustard make a little sauce!. And pour over asparagus!. Hope this helpsWww@FoodAQ@Com

I would recommend steaming them to 'aldente'!. Be careful not to over cook them!. They should be a bit crisp to the bite! You can season them with garlic, salt and pepper!. You do not have to cut them in terms of prep before steaming!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

1!. Remove from package
2!. Shove 'em up your ***!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

saute them with butter and salt n pepper to taste! delish!Www@FoodAQ@Com
