Pot luck with a bunch of car guys?!?!

Question: Pot luck with a bunch of car guys!?!!?
I just got invited to a house warming party this Saturday for some friends and we were asked to take something because it's a pot luck!. The people that will be going are all a bunch of guys that work on cars all the time and I'm sure there are more then a few that will be picky eaters! So I'm stuck on what to bring or make!. I'm looking for something fairly inexpensive and easy to make!. I'd rather not just buy something, I'd like to make it and have ppl go mmm and ooh and ahh lol!. Any ideas!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've yet to see a man turn down Banana Pudding, no matter what his hobby!

"Not Yo Mama’s Banana Pudding"

2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
6 to 8 bananas
2 cups milk
1 (5-oz) box instant French vanilla pudding
1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14-oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12-oz) container thawed Cool-Whip, or sweetened whipped cream

In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer!. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth!. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture!. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended!. Set aside!.

Line the bottom of a 13x 9x 2” dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer sliced bananas on top!.

Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies!. Refrigerate until ready to serve!.

I feed car men all the time!. Chicken wings are cheap and easy!. also we do a potato dish where you cut potatoes like fries and layer them on a pan and put salt, pepper, rosemary and extra virgin olive oil and bake them for around 40 minutes!. They are wonderful!. Potatoes are a manly food and the rosemary gives it a wonderful flavor!.
When you bake them, have the oven really hot when you put them in and bake them at a high heat!.(This makes them crunchy)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Treat them to something different, my friends are a bunch of picky mechanics like yours, i find the stuff that i cooked for them that went down the best was regular tucker but with a twist, why not dip some bonelesss chicken bits in to a spice mix (go easy) dip in a little flour and fry off, finish it under the grill, theyll tell you they are the tastiest chicken nuggetts they ever ate and only you'll know why, i find this works for garlic haters as well, just put a small amount of well crushed garlic in their food and when they are finished you can tell them what that special tasty ingredient was!. I'm not lying about the mechanics either and I know what you mean, some of my friends have the palletts of children!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think I would bring petite cheesecakes! The recipe below makes 24, which is more than enough for this size party (with pot luck, people pick & choose what they eat)!. These cheesecakes are always a hit because they are pretty & tasty & easy to grab one!.!.!.and not intimidating because they are small!. Whatever you do, have fun at the party!

PETITE CHEESECAKES

2 (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla
24 vanilla wafers
1 can (1 pound, 5 ounces) cherry (or blueberry) pie filling

Beat cream cheese, sugar, eggs, lemon juice & vanilla until light and fluffy!. Line regular muffin pans with cupcake papers (or the foil ones are really pretty); place a vanilla wafer in each and fill 2/3 full with cream cheese mixture!.

Bake at 375 for 15-20, or until set!. Cool & top each with about 1Tb!. of pie filling and chill!.

Makes about 2 dozenWww@FoodAQ@Com
