Recipe for a white cake?!

Question: Recipe for a white cake!?
I am having a birthday party for my mother and my aunts said that my grandmother always made my mother a white cake on her birthday!. My question is, What is an easy white cake recipe and what kind of topping do you put with a white cake!? I'm thinking of making a round double layer or should I make a standard sheet cake!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I use this one!. It's pretty simple!. I've found it really only makes one 9-inch round cake, though (it says it makes 2, but when I tried 2, they were VERY low) so I usually double the recipe if I want a layer cake!. You'll also have to adjust your baking time (I usually lower the temperature 25 degrees to prevent burning, and bake for 10-15 minutes longer)!.
I usually just top with whipped cream (Cool Whip is my best friend), and sometimes put fresh strawberries on top (or other berries or fruits, depending on who I'm baking for!.

INGREDIENTS

* 1 cup white sugar
* 1/3 cup butter, softened
* 2 eggs
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 pinch salt
* 1 cup milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

1!. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)!. Grease and flour two 8 or 9 inch round cake pans!.
2!. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy!. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition!. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the batter alternately with the milk!. Stir in vanilla!. Distribute batter evenly between the prepared pans!.
3!. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake springs back when pressed gently in the center!. Cool in pans over a wire rack!. When completely cooled, frost or fill as desired!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with pre-mixed box cakes!. They have been thru trial and error and have good recipes!. Toppings are the key! In the south it is very common to see chefs pour white cake batter over fruits like peaches and berries!. Some even make their cobblers using white cake batter over fruit!.

The reason why I meantion that is because white cake is as universal as it comes!. But fruit and white cake are a superb combination!. So with that said here is an idea for you to consider!.!.!.

Make a double layer cake!. Start by pourng a 1/4 nch of batter into the cake pan!. Then add a thin layer of fresh peaches and leavng gaps around each peach slce so the cake develops a pocket around them (make sure they are as dry as possble by damping them in a towel)!. It's best just to drop your peaches in cake batter before you put them in your pan!. What you want to avoid is your cake falling apart due to lack of cohesion!. And stay an inch or so away from the perimeter!. Cook according to recipe on box!. Do that with both layers!.

Now dice up one peach and save the juices!. Slowly combine the juices and diced peaches to a buttercreame frosting and mix for 3-4 minutes nonstop!. Dont sop mixing or the juices will destroy your frosting!.

Now spread the frosting over the cake using a cheese knife or whatever you prefer!. Get creative on the design!. Garnish with thin peach slices in a star pettern on the top and around the base!. Shave some dark chocolate on top of the peaches!.

Your friends and family will tell you it's the best cake they've ever had, I assure you!. good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Make it easy on yourself and make a boxed cake!. They are found on a shelf at your grocery store!. Near by you will find tubs of all types of toppings (frostings)!. We like Dunkin Hines best, but there are many good brands!. Read the directions on the box before you buy the cake!. You may need to buy more ingredients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

do yourself a favor - go to a bakery and buy one and tell her you made it and then ask god to forgive youWww@FoodAQ@Com
