Can I cook sukiyaki without japanese rice wine?!
ingredients:
? * 1 pound thinly sliced beef *
? * A handful of shirataki noodles (made from yam cakes) or cellophane noodles
? * 7-8 shiitake mushrooms
* 1 block enoki mushrooms
* 1 medium negi
? * 1/2 Chinese cabbage
? * 1 yaki-dofu (grilled tofu)
* For sukiyaki sauce:
? * 1/3 cup soy sauce /
3 tbsps sake (Japanese rice wine) /
?5 tbsps sugar /
?3/4 cup water
? * For dipping: 4 eggs
the one with "?" are the only ingredients that i can buy here in a near supermarket!.
could you suggest any substitute for

You can substitute Chinese rice wine, sherry, any dry white wine, any red wine, 2 tsp of sherry vinegar or nothing (in that order) for the sake!. You may substitute any sliced mushroom for the enoki, and negi are Japanese scallions - so use one of those!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Of course - just substitute something acidic like white wine vinegarWww@FoodAQ@Com
