Chefs Question: TV cooking shows?!
which are the most informative and instructive for the average cook!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
IMO, the most informative and "easiest" to get along with is a real toss up:
Ina Garten, for the no nonsense, straight forward recipes, and she's paid her dues, she may not be professionally trained, but she ran a catering company with Marth Stewart (the BareFoot Contessa) till they sold it in 1988!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
Paula Deen, for her "mom like" qualities and very downhome, abeit kinda unhealthy recipes (I' stillllllllll Love ya, Paula!.!.!.!.!.!.)
Sandra Lee: again, NOT professionally trained, but, do read her book and you'll get some insight on her roots!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
Ok, I'll bend here: Rachel Ray:
I know that there is a VERY defamatory website against her, (what a clueless life people have) she has also, paid her dues: Coming up throught the ranks: from commissary ordering person to a 3Xday/5Xweek personality!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Remember, SHE has a TV gig, and the others don't!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Peace to her!.!.!.!.!.

Good Eats!. Science guy!.
Knowing why something, whether it is a kitchen tool or spice or cut of meat, does a certain thing or reacts in a certain way, makes those things accessible, allows you translate them and use them how you want to instead of just blindly following a recipe!.
For instance, knowing that small round scoops makes for puffier cookies is a good thing to know (if I baked, which I do not)!. That is something the recipe won't tell you and you would end up with flat hard cookies!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
