Question: Dumb question, but I need to know!.!.!.!?
Is there any certain way to boil eggs so that they are easier to peel!? Sometimes the shells come off easy, and other times they take half the egg with 'em,, it's a mess!! Is there a consistent trick to this!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

When my mom-in-law had her resturant we boiled and peeled a lot of eggs, so 8-9 dozen at a time!. Boil in salted water, then drain some hot water off the top of the eggs, and run under cold water for about 5 min!. Refridgerate over night!. To those who say that eggs peel better warm don't know what they are talking about!.

also the whole crack on the air bubble thing and roll is a good idea as well!. And do it under running water or ina small bowl of cool water!. Then rinse well just in case teeny tiny bots of shell stay on there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you want to peel the egg with the egg coming out whole, use older eggs (a week will do), boil them then immediately pour off the boiling water and run cold water from the tap over them until they are cold, then dry and crack them all over!.
Put a TABLESPOON of salt into the water before you add the eggs to boil them, too !.!.!. the salt won't get through the shells but the shells stay whole better and the eggs peel better!. How do I know all of this !.!.!. I love hard boiled egss to make deviled eggs, and I asked people until I found out, then I tried it, and with this method I get 9 out of 10 eggs 'perfect' after peeling!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Place eggs in pan, before water!.
Add salt to water!.
also, don't over cook the eggs, no more than 12 minutes from the time they start boiling!.

THE MAIN TRICK --
I was told by a chef about 8 years ago, to crack the shell at the large end first and peel from there!. Amazing --It seems to work 98% of the time!.

A small air pocket forms in the egg at this end and allows the thin skin that wants to attach the shell and soft egg to be separated easier away from the white egg!.

Try this boil them hard but not till they crack, make sure they are cool before you peel!. Then gently crack the whole shell all over by rolling it around on the table in different directions until its all crackly!. Then remove the shell, by doing this sometimes you will even get the shell off in one piece without damaging the egg!. Just keep practicing you will be an eggspert in no time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

start with eggs that are older, meaning 1-2 weeks
Put in pot covered with cold water!. Bring to rolling boil, turn off heat and cover with lid!. Let sit for 125 minutes!. Remove lid and dunk in ice water bath till cool

I can't believe no one else has said this!. There is a gadget which I bought years ago that punctures a tiny hole in the end of each raw egg before you boil them, and no, it doesn't make egg leak out!. It does make them much easier to crack and peel after they are boiled, though!. Ask at Wal-Mart or the Dollar Store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

your right it is a dumb question!. hahah no i always put vegetable oil and salt in the water when im boiling them it sounds wierd but it something about the combination softens the shells and theyre super easy to peel!. enjoy that little tip!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the real answer is freshness of the eggs :o) older eggs will peel easier than fresh eggs!. the closer the eggs are to the sell by date, the easier they will be to peel after boiling!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i place mine in pot of water and bring to a boil!. I let them boil for 10 minutes and then put them in cool water!. I peel them when they are still wet!. I find this easier!. usually they peel fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

usually!.!.!. you should be able to peel them off!.!. crack the shell from the flattest part!.!.should be the bottom!.!. because there a little gap or bubble of air there that lets you peel them easily!.!. sorry if it's confusing!.!. tried to help!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Place the raw, uncracked eggs in a pot with enough room to space the eggs so they do not touch!. Fill the pot with enough cold tap water to completely cover eggs with about 1 inch of water over them!. The eggs will float so you can push them down when estimating the amount of water you will need!.
Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat!.
Leave the eggs in the boiling water for ten minutes!. It is important you do not time the ten minutes until the water is boiling!. If you set the timer early, you will end up with soft-boiled eggs!. If you set it too late, the yolks will turn a slight greenish color and begin to smell like sulfur!.
Remove from heat and immediately chill the eggs by placing them under cold running water or in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process!. Chill for a few minutes until the egg is completely cooled!. Failing to properly chill the eggs can result in split whites and sticky yolks!.
There are many ways to shell an egg!. You can rub them between your hands under running water, or roll them on a hard surface until they are throughly cracked and then actually peel away the shell!.



Pinhole MethodBring a pot of water to boil, adding just a pinch of salt!. Use enough water to cover the eggs, plus about an inch more!.
While the water is heating, get a pin and make a small shallow (just through the shell) hole at the less pointy end of each egg!. This allows air to escape so that the shell won't crack from the sudden heat and subsequent gas expansion!.
Once the water is boiling, use a spoon to transfer each egg gently into the water!. This is so that you don't break the eggs or splash yourself with boiling water!.
Allow the eggs to cook for 10 mins (or 8 for medium, 6 for soft)!.
Turn off the heat and pour out as much of the hot water as possible without pouring out the eggs!. Fill the pot (still containing the eggs) with cool water!.
Allow eggs to sit for 10 minutes (assuming you want them cool -- medium and soft eggs are especially good when still warm) then eat, or refrigerate for up to a week at the very most!.



Vinegar MethodIf the egg is refrigerated, leave it outside for about 5 minutes before placing it in a bowl of hot water!.
Add vinegar to the pan of water and place the egg fully submerged in water!.
Boil the egg for about 15 minutes!.



Electric Water Kettle MethodPlace eggs in the bottom of an electric water kettle!.
Add enough cool tap water to the kettle to cover the eggs by an inch!. Add pleanty of salt to make the eggs easy to peel later!.
Turn the kettle on and either
wait until the unit reaches a boil and unplug it
use the unit's automatic shut off boil sensor
4!. Leave the eggs in the kettle for 13 minutes!.

5!. Transfer the eggs to an ice bath for rapid cooling which will prevent a green yolk!.




TipsYou can make the eggs easier to peel by using eggs at least one week old, and by adding plenty of salt to the boiling water!. You can also add two or three teaspoons of white vinegar to the water!. It is also easier to peel the eggs when they are properly cooled!.
It is easier to peel the eggs if you crack it a little at the less pointy end, peel a little and then slide a spoon under the shell!. Just move the spoon around under the shell and it will easily remove the rest!
Most people consider eggs to be overcooked when the outside of the yolks turn greenish or gray!. The whites will become rubbery and the eggs will begin to smell like sulfur!.
It is possible to cook eggs without a lid!. This helps reduce the chance of overcooking the eggs as the heat escapes more readily!. It does not require a change in temperature or cooking time to cook hard-boiled eggs in a pot with no lid, but you may need to wait longer for the water to boil!.
To ensure your egg is hardboiled, when it is cooled off, spin it on a hard surface like a top, and if it spins quickly without flying off in one direction, the egg is finished!. Undercooked or uncooked eggs will have a wobbly, unsteady spin and will spiral off to one side!.
Hard-boiled eggs will keep for approximately a week in the refrigerator!.
Another method is to place the eggs in the water as mentioned above!. Allow the water to begin boiling then remove the pot from the heat!. Cover the pot and leave it alone at least ten minutes, or until the water cools!. You end up with perfectly cooked eggs - firm yolk and white, and no cracked shells from rapid boiling!.



WarningsBe careful that you do not burn yourself with the hot water or the eggs!.
Using too much vinegar will cause your eggs to smell bad and taste like vinegar!.
Using a microwave without a egg cooker designed for use in a microwave will cause the eggs to explode!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
