When working with yeast, do you dissolve it in warm water, or luke-warm water?!

Question: When working with yeast, do you dissolve it in warm water, or luke-warm water!?
I want to make pizza dough, but I always shy away from making homemade because I'm not comfortable working with yeast!. How much water do I dissolve it in!? How do I know when it's ready to mix with the other ingredients!? Any other tips would be appreciated!. Thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

befuddle -- You are sure to be more befuddled after the wide range in the temperatures you have been given!.For regular
dry yeast you need to use water @ 105*F
That's about 10*F above body temp!. take 1/3 cup of the 105*F water add 1/2 tea spoon sugar and 1 Table spoon flour sprinkle the yeast on the water when the yeast softens add sugar and flour whisk to combine!. Do this the very first thing when you start your dough!. place in a warm draft free place!.
Start measuring the other ingredients into the mixing bowl by the time you are ready for the liquid to be added the yeast mixture
should be bubbly or foamy if not wait until it is and also the remaining water should have cooled down by this time!. If you are still uncomfortable with working with yeast try instant yeast it mixes into the dry ingredients
And there is a new yeast made by Freshman
out now that you only need to rest the dough 15 minutes instead of letting the dough double in bulk!. I bought a few pkgs!.
but haven't tried it out yet!. It is in a pink pkg!.
along side the other yeast!. Don't let the working with yeast be uncomfortable just remember the tempiture to actavate the yeast needs to be 105*F Two or three degrees higher is ok!. the dough should be 80*F to 84*F and never let the dough to become chilled!. Hope this helps you!. jim bWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yeast can be a pain without a thermometer!. I've tried without one and killed it, LOL!!!

You need the temp around 110* I'll give you a star cuz I'd like to find out myself without using a thermometer!.

(wanna see what the tricks of the trade are)

EDIT:L when I did it before, I microwaved the water for 1 minute; WAY too hot!!!

P!.S!. Here is the recipe!!!
INGREDIENTS
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 (!.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)

DIRECTIONS
Combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl!. Mix in oil and warm water!. Spread out on a large pizza pan!. Top as desired!.
Bake at 375 degrees C (190 degrees C) for 20 to 25 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Every package is going to tell you something different!.
110-115 is the ideal temperature range!. Anything below 110 and the yeast will be inhibited!. If it's higher than 120 it will start killing the yeast!.
Either you use an instant thermometer read right before you sprinkle the yeast over the water, or you can test it on the inside of your wrist!. If it feels warm enough like from a baby bottle's milk, then it's ok!. Wait a couple of minutes and stir before you add salt, or else it will die!.
And no you don't need a machine, bit more labour intensive to knead by hand, but hey you get a free workout that way!.
Happy baking!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you want to dissolve the yeast into the water!. You should use however much water the recipe calls for, or milk if it calls for milk!. You should use water that is barely warm, just above room temperature and if the recipe calls for any sugar, you should dissolve the sugar in the water with the yeast!. Yeast loves sugar!. Avoid using the salt called for in the recipe at the same time!. Salt kills yeast!. But you can put the salt in with the flour and other ingredients, that won't hurt the yeast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

1 cup warm water (between 95° and 115° F!.)
2 Tablespoons yeast

Pour in warm water!. The water should be about 85 to 115° F!. Test it with your hand!. It should feel very warm, but comfortable!. Add the honey and salt!. Mix on low for about 20 seconds!. Add the yeast and mix on low for another 5 seconds!. Add 1 cup of flour, mix on low for 10 seconds!. Add the olive oil and mix until blended (about 15 or 20 seconds more)!. Add the rest of the flour (and any other additions) and mix on high for about a minute or two!. The dough should turn into a ball and roll around the processor!. If the dough does not ball up because it's too dry, add water one tablespoon at a time until it does!. If your mixture is more like a batter, add flour one tablespoon at a time!. Adding water or flour as needed to get the right consistency will assure you always get a perfect dough!. Just remember to do it in small amounts!.

Once the dough is balled up, place the ball on a floured board and knead for about a minute!. This builds the gluten which helps the dough to rise and become fluffy when cooked!. Place the dough in a plastic grocery bag or a covered bowl and store in a warm, dry area to rise!.

After about 45 minutes the dough should have about doubled in size!. Show it who's the boss and punch it down!. That's right, give it a good smack so it deflates!. Let it rise for another hour to an hour and a half!. The dough is now ready to be rolled out!. You can punch the dough down one more time if you want and wait another hour or two before rolling out!. The choice is yours!. Enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Moist dough between 78 degrees and 80 degrees is an ideal environment for yeast growth!. Since yeast is very sensitive to temperature, temperature is a major factor in how fast yeast multiples!. Yeast is dormant and will not grow at 40 degrees and grows only slowly at 55 degrees!. Yeast dies instantly at 140 degrees!. We recommend not using water warmer than 120 degrees to avoid accidentally killing the yeast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is the recipe I ALWAYS use!. It's easy, cheap, and my whole family loves it, including the kids!! It makes a Large pizza!. You could probably 1/2 the recipe though, if you want a smaller pizza!.

Good answers, everybody! All I can offer is a recipe that I've used a few times, only I add some oregano and basil to the pizza dough!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

warm water, a little hotter than body temp!. Measure it, about 105-115oF is ideal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tepid ( like a baby's bottle milk), pinch of sugar or better yet, honey, to feed the yeast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

slightly warm!. Hot water will kill the yeast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
