Anyone know about Cake tins?!
I have offered to make a friend of mine a wedding cake!. Now I have to get the equipment, i!.e!. cake tins!. Just wondering, before I make a purchase, can anybody tell me what is the best material for a cake tin!? And more specifically, are Stainless Steel cake tins any good!? (Coz thats the cheapest I found)!. Any advice appreciated!. Thank you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go for the cheapest, no matter what the material is, as long as you line them well, shouldn't make any difference, and as it is unlikely you'd be using them often, it's not worth the expense!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Stainless steel will be fine but if you're baking a rich fruit cake then make sure they are sturdy as the mixture is heavy!. Again, if it's a rich fruit cake line the tins with a fair bit of parchment paper to stop the edges burning or going crispy!. I make wedding cakes as well (when I have the time) and I actually put some paper around the outside of the tin too!. This keeps the edges as moist as possible, soaking the fruit in brandy for a couple of days also helps!.
If it's just a sponge cake then you don't need to be too fussy about the tins!.

I use non-stick pans for my baking!. I bought them silver in color and found them to brown the bottom of the cake perfectly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Regardless of what tins I have bought in the past I always line them with paper because I never want to take the chance!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i have been making all sorts of cakes for years, and i use non stick, and just grease them and line with grease proof paper,Www@FoodAQ@Com
stainless steel cake tins are good, because the cake won't stick on it while being baked!.
