Crispy Batter for Deep Frying

Makes a thicker batter for meats, fish, poultry and vegetables!.

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup corn cornstarch
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
Dry bread crumbs, plain or seasoned


Preheat oil to 300o F!. in Deep Fryer!. Combine all dry ingredients, except bread crumbs!. Add water and mix until smooth!. Dip food in batter and then coat with bread crumbs!. Place in basket!. Lower basket into oil and fry at 375o F!. until done!.


Flour Coating for Deep Frying

This plain coating is good on meats, fish and poultry!.

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt


Combine all ingredients!. Coat food and place in basket to deep fry!.



Long John Silver's Batter


2/3 cup club soda
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 egg
1/2 cup Bisquick
1/2 cup self-rising flour

Beat all ingredients together until smooth; let stand 10 minutes!.

Heat oil to 385 degrees F!.

In small bowl put 1/2 cup club soda, in another 1/2 cup self-rising flour!. Dip fish first into soda, then into flour!. Set fish on cookie sheet till all the fish has been coated; let dry a few minutes!.

Dip fish in batter, let excess drip off; and deep fry 3 or 4 minutes per side!. Shrimp can be done the same way if peeled and deveined first!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I make beer batter!.!.!.!.!.a cup of flour, a can of beer and a couple shakes of creole seasoning (or cajun) for a little kick!. If it is still just a little thick for you, add a small amount of water or club soda!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
