So my bf doesn't do the whole bottled spaghetti sauce!. So I always just make it from scratch which really isn't to hard, but I totally feel like every time I am missing something crucial!
I don't do the measuring thing!.!.!.!.!.its not my style!.!.!.lol!
So heres what I put in!.!.!.!.
Saute fresh onions and garlic in olive oil
add ground beef or ground sausage
season meat with garlic and onion powder, sea salt and pepper
mix in:
Tomatoes Sauce
Tomatoes Paste
Diced tomatoes (we aren't fans of stewed tomatoes)
Season with:
tyme, orgeno, basil, a little bit of fresh cilatro, garlic powder, onion powder, parmesean cheese, salt, pepper and a little sugar!.
Mix it well and simmer for about 4 hours!.
He isn't really into Mushrooms or Olives, so its a little plain, but any ideas on some other good seasonings or veggies to add to the sauce!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love to add a cup of red wine, it kicks up the flavor a notch! also zucchini is yummy in a sauce!. Hope you Dinner tonight is delicous!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Try adding some crushed Italian seasonings, crushed red pepper and some shredded mozzarella cheese - leave out the sugar, it takes away from the tomato taste and you really don't need it!. I also add a touch of chili powder to my homemade sauce!. Instead of sauteing your veggies in olive oil, sautee them in the same frying pan you cook your ground beef and sausage in after you brown your meat!. Use ground beef and Italian sausage - I like to use a combination of both sweet and hot Italian sausage!.

your gravy sounds delicious! I sautee' my onions and bell pepper and some celery in olive oil!. Brown hamburger meat and Italian sausage together then add sauteed onions, bell pepper and celery!. Add your tomato sauce and paste and diced tomatoes!. I add a carrot because it will absorb the acid in the tomatoes and sweetens the sauce!.!.!.!.!.I drop in a whole carrot but, remove it as best you can before serving gravy!. I got the carrot idea from an Italian friend!. Use plenty of garlic!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Sounds like you have everything and a little more!. Here's a suggestion to change the sauce!. Don't use oregano in the sauce and replace the basil with sweet basil!. also minimize the amount of olive oil and add real butter after mixing everything in!. Allow the butter to melt slowly into the sauce as it simmers!. Hope this helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try sauteeing the onions and garlic in spicy oil (olive oil infused with hot peppers) or add a couple drops of hot sauce / tobasco sauce while it simmers!. Adds a nice 'zing'!.!.!.without the heat!.
Add a bay leaf to the simmer, remove prior to serving!.

This sounds dodgy as hell, but try adding a couple of squares of good quality dark chocolate!. But not more than a couple, it's not chocolate sauce)!.
It really brings out the richness of the tomatoes!. Honestly!.
also frying diced celery with your onions and garlic adds a lot of flavour!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
