Instructions to make a 'top hat' shaped cake ?!

Question: Instructions to make a 'top hat' shaped cake !?
My mum makes wedding cakes, and has been asked to make a 'top hat' shaped wedding cake, as the wedding is in the theme of the mad hatters tea party (how cool is that!)

Does anybody have any instructions on how to make that kind of cake !? Either fruit or sponge !?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Do it in sponge (victora style)

Make a large round one for the base of the hat, and 4 smaller ones for the bit the head goes in,

Layer in jam, cream, butter icing (or whatever you prefer) between the layers to hold them together!.

Coat with icing - a white top hat will be easier then a black one - less colouring required!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would make it in layers!. Make some big round layers!.!.!. maybe two!. Then make some smaller layers to make the hat shape!. Then between the layers make your favorite fillings!. Frost and decorate as you please!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
