Thicken it up with a little flour (1tbsp)!.!.!. simmer it to get rid of the starch (5 mins, low heat) taste to check, if not simmer until starch has been cooked out!.

I wing it all the time with my sauces but find it you got the perfect taste and want it thicker this always works, or just reduce it to suit!.

If you want extra flavour, along with thickness, I suggest adding some extra tomato puree and some peppers and/or carrot if desired!.!. you can even add brocolli (whole, or blended, it's all upto you)!. Classic marinara is exactly how you have made it though, most contain basil (which you have), or parsley!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I usually wing it every time I make it!. I have used one or more of the following at least once:
green pepper, zucchini, carrot, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, worchestershire sauce, red wine, pinch of sugar!.!.!.a friend of mine puts just a touch of dill!. Hope this gives you some ideas!. Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

To make my sauce thicker I use canned tomatoes that have been "sauced!." It's right with the diced tomatoes!. I've noticed that if you add tomato paste to thicken, it turns out to be a bit bitter!. I always add a bit of red wine to my sauce before I let it reduce!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As Laura said, sugar (it will cut the acidity of the tomatoes)!. also,be sure to add some red wine, simmer on low until the flavors "marry"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tomato paste to make it thicker, a bit of parsley, and about 2 tablespoons of asugar or splenda sugar substitute!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

a little sugar or some crushed red pepper for a little heat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
