How do I get my apple pie filling to...?!


Question: How do I get my apple pie filling to!.!.!.!?
I just started trying to bake apple pie, and the recipe I found and added things to make my own owrks extremely well for the taste!. But I have found that everytime I make the apple pie, the inside 'falls' you could say!. It leaves about 1-3 inches between the filling and crust by the time its done and the filling isnt as thick as im use to seeing!. Its more watery looking!. How do I get the filling to be thicker and what could be makin the inside shrink!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

How about omitting the top crust and make a crumb topping intead!?

In a small bowl mix together 1/2 cup flour and brown sugar!. Cut in 3 Tbs!. cold butter or margarine until mixture is crumbly!. Sprinkle mixture over apple filling!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hmm!.!.!. you could try adding more filling and cover the pie so that it has a "bulge" and hope that you guessed the right excess amount so that it straightens out!.

The pie falls because as the apple's cook, they loose moisture and shrink!. Plus the chemical makeup changes as it's heated up which might also cause shrinkage!. Yum!. Apples!Www@FoodAQ@Com

use 1 t!. of flour per cup of apple
also really pile the apples in higher, are you using a deep dish pan and a recipe for a regular pan!? if so that is the problem!.!.!.!.!.!.!.just add more applesWww@FoodAQ@Com

More apples and you might try corn starch in apple juice!. It needs to be boiled until it becomes thick!. Always stir while cooking!. Add to apples, put crust on and bakeWww@FoodAQ@Com
