Anybody know the best way to cook healthy for a man who hates veggies and loves meat?!

Question: Anybody know the best way to cook healthy for a man who hates veggies and loves meat!?
My husband avoids veggies like the plague and I find that, when I cook, the things he gets excited about are heavy pastas, rice, fried foods, or foods with ground beef or cream sauces!. I've been gaining weight steadily because I cook for both of us and it doesn't make sense time-wise or money-wise to cook two meals!. He really can't stand veggies except for corn and he really hates to eat "healthy!." I really can't handle any more weight gain on my part and I would love for us both to feel healthier!. Any suggestions on meals!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

My hubby was/is a meat and potatoes only kind of guy too, I started slowly!. Start with buying lean ground beef (93/7), ground sirloin instead of ground beef!. Flank steak and sirloin are two of the leanest cuts of beef that are still affordable and taste good (just do not over cook them)!. Salads are cheap to make if you do not buy the kits (first time costs more~but then you have all the stuff for next time) if he refuses to eat green veggies, just fill up yourself on salad and eater a smaller portion of the main dish!. Cook with olive oil, not vegetable oil or butter!. Whole grain brown rice, and do an "oven fried chicken"~I use boneless chicken tenderloins, dip them in not fat milk (cold) then roll them in crushed cornflakes (seasoned to taste) drizzle no more than 2 tbs!. melted butter over the top and bake!. They are also great the next day in a salad!. Drink water with your meal, and use smaller plates as well!. I have more tips, but have to get my son to preschool~will update:)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eating meat with rice and pastas is healthy!. The reason for the weight gain is not because the food is unhealthy, it is because you eat too much of it!. Try serving on smaller plates, most people get in the habit of filling their plate and then they "have to clean it up"!. Using a smaller plate and drinking a glass of water with the meal will respect the old cues of overeating, but give less of it!.

Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

One trick, if he likes pasta, is to chop or grate veggies into the sauce!. I usually add sweet peppers, carrots, celery, and mushrooms to my tomato/meat sauce!.

You can stir fry some veggies to add to cream type sauces, too, and load up on the veggies, and take less sauce for yourself!.

Hope this helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Woah!!! I think we are married to the same man!!! LOL

What I do is, broil or grill everything!. I also buy marinades and marinade the meat in!. Last night we had marinated chicken (mesquite) wrapped with bacon!. Was delish!!!

Use the marinades is all I can say, that's how I dont' gain any MORE weight!!! LOL Eat your salads with every meal also and first, this way you will fill up on that mostly!.

That's funny, my hubby likes corn and green beans only!.

Stick with low-carb stuff; meat, salads and green veggies!. Only eat a little bit of the other stuff if you make it (pasta, creamed stuff)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well i find that when i cook for my man the only way to get him to eat veggies is to cook them with something he likes!. Like stir fry!. But the seasing with the veggies and cook them with the meat so they tatse better!. I find that works the most for me!. Try it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Stir fry is good for getting veggies into someone, plus it stretches well, too!. The sauce is tasty and the veggies are mixed with the meat right in the sauce!. I made a huge pan of it last night with two small broccoli crowns, just under half a bag of frozen peas, a small can of peeled and sliced water chestnuts, a can of bamboo, half a can of sliced carrots, and only two chicken breasts, cut into small chunks!. You steam the broccoli for 3-4 minutes, cook the chunked chicken in the bottom of a wok or large skillet with a bit of oil, then add all the veggies (leave the peas frozen--they'll thaw in a snap in the hot pan) and two packets of Sun Bird stir fry mix dissolved in a cup or so of water!. Toss everything until it's heated through and add more water if the sauce is too thick!. Add a few dashes of soy sauce and garlic powder until you like the taste you have and serve it up with rice!. If he wants friend stuff, appease him by having fried lo mein noodles at the table to add!. My boyfriend picks at veggies most of the time, but the stir fry looks exotic so it fools him into eating them!. Other things you can do is swap out fatty recipes for equally good-tasting healthy recipes!. I make really great chili and tacos with Boca or Morningstar Farms ground-meat style crumbles!. Look for recipes on Hungrygirl!.com--I use the site all the time for swaps, recipes, and food info!. Lastly, if you do the shopping and cooking, you control what goes into your husband's stomach! Don't let him bully you into cooking grossly fattening food all the time; you're not cooking for him only, you're cooking for you both!Www@FoodAQ@Com

stir-fry beef (ground, sliced or diced) with vege (corn, capsicum, kale, broccoli, mushrooms, beans or beansprout)!. try a combo to add some color to your dish!.
make beef/bacon rolls by wrapping golden mushrooms with strips of very thinly sliced meat - you first fry 'em till a little crispy, then add a dash of wine & saute 'em in a sauce - my customers loved these!.
boil asparagus & wrap 'em up with strips of thinly sliced salmon, grill 'em to cook fish, remove from oven & put a thin layer of garlic-mayo (finely chopped garlic mixed with mayo) over the fish to grill once more!. when the topping starts to bubble & brown, remove from oven & sprinkle same herbs over it!. alternatively, you could skip the mayo & douse it with a cream or sauce!.
happy cooking!Www@FoodAQ@Com
