Is rice with bugs normal, edible?!

Question: Is rice with bugs normal, edible!?
I bought 25 lb!. of short-grain brown rice!. Nearing the bottom of the bag, I found tiny dead winged bugs!. I filtered out what I could find and baked a batch for an hour at 400 degrees!. I removed a couple more dead ones from the cooked rice!.

Caution: scenario gets worse!.

When dividing the rest of the bulk rice into baggies, I saw a tiny white worm!. Larvae right (sounds better than maggot)!? Is this normal!? Is the cooked rice edible!? If I freeze the baggies, will the uncooked rice be edible!? Disgusted or not, I just want to know if, once cooked, they can cause harm in the body, or is buggy rice natural!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
They might be rice weevils or pantry weevils!. If you decide to throw the rice away, cook it and feed it to the birds - they won't care!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Unless you are in need of a unique source of pro tine, don't eat it!. I am also in favor of trying to get your refund/exchange!. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I think it can happen if bugs get into the rice at any point during or after the packing process!. I once had a similar issue with dog food, I threw it away!. I wouldn't even give it to the dog!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It happens if you leave rice out in the open!. I think it's safe to eat if you're that hungry!. In the future I suggest keeping your rice in an air tight container!. also if you do see bugs in it, wash it in a large bowl of water!. The bugs will float and you can easily clean them out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No that's not normal, far from it!. It was infested with bugs! Take the remaining bag back to the store with a receipt, hopefully, and get a refund!. In the future buy from a busier market where they sell quantity or buy smaller amounts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Although it seems nasty to us, most of the rice eating world would not hesitate to eat it!. Ususlly when I am faced with this situation, I just cook it up and serve it a little at a time to my dog!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ewww!. but i think when u buy stuff in such large quantities, that happenes!. i would have sent it back though for a refund, and NO i wouldnt eat it!ewwwww!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think that is normal but once cooked I don't think it would harm anyone , just a little extra proteinWww@FoodAQ@Com

I couldn't eat it if you cook it for a week!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
