Did I mess up my soup?!?!
I am making spinach soup for my daughter and think I may have messed it up!. The steps were,
1!. fry onions in butter
2!. add spinach and cook till wilted
3!. add 1 tbsp flour and mix into ingredients
4!. add chicken stock!.
I FORGOT to add the flour before pouring in the stock!. So after i added the stock I quickly took a little out and mixed it with some flour and then poured it back in to the soup to cook!.
Will this affect the soup!?!?!? I hope not!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The flour in your recipe is used as a thickener!. The reason it has you add it before the stock is first to cook off the pasty flour taste, and second, so you have a chance to easily stir out the lumps!. The longer you cook the flour before adding the stock, the darker it gets, and that would make your soup a darker color as well!. One TB of flour isn't really going to have much of an effect on the soup in the end though!. Your method of mixing the flour with the stock and then adding it removed the possibility of lumps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When making the soup you can add any ingredients that you want to get any taste that you want, but when your working with flour if you add it when your supposed to it will have more of a thickness but it should still taste the same

It may taate a little off but it should be okay!. Next time melt a little butter then stir in the flour and add liquid to that then, add the roux mix into the soup!. But it should be okayoverall!. Iv'e doen tjhis before and it turns out okay!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't think so!. It shouldn't!. The only thing that might happen is that you might get lumps, but if it made a slight paste the soup will be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
