Answers:
peel and dice them into 1 or half inch cubes, cover with water and boil til you can stick a fork in a piece!. About 20 minutes here on the mountain at a mile high altitude!
They are done when you can easily stick the fork into a piece of potato!
I drain reserving the potato water, add cream and butter, white pepper and salt!. Beat with electric mixer til they are fluffy!.
use the potato water while making your gravy mixing it half and half with milk!.

Peel, and cut into big chunks!. I like the golden potatoes, or Yukon Golds!. Start in cold water!. Bring to a boil, and boil for abou t 7 minuts!. Drain in colander (bowl w/ holes punched in it for draining), set colander back in pot, and cover w/ a dry dish towel for 15 min!. This will let them cook (steam)perfectly w/o being too wet from boiling!. They will make fluffy, nice mashed potatoes!

I agree with the fact that not only Americans boil potatoes!. If you want to mash them then obviously they need to be good and tender, but not over cooked!. You don't want them to be mush in the pot, but undercooked potatoes will not be good either!. When a fork slides easily into the tater then it is ready!. The time all depends on the size of the chunks, and how many etc!.!.!. It all goes by tenderness!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It depends on how large they are!. I cut mine in cubes so they'll cook faster than if I leave them whole!. It takes around 15 for them to cook once the water comes to a boil!. To test to see if they're done, stick a fork into a piece and if you can pull it back out without much resistance, they're done!.
If they're left whole, it will take 20 to 30 minutes for them to cook!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cut the potatoes into dice sized pieces!. Cook the potatoes until you can easily mash one with a fork!. Try to make the pieces all the same size so they can cook evenly and you won't have half crunch potatoes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Depends on how many potatoes you use and the size of them, but normally it would take 30 minutes or so for about 4 medium/large size potatoes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Boil them until they are fork tender!.
