Definitely use the cast Iron on the stovetop, not the broiler, the rest you have right, deglazing etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'm sure there are many opinions on this, but I would cook it in a cast iron pan, high heat is fine to sear it!. Then, once it is seared I would put it in the oven until it is done to the point you want it done (I prefer medium-rare)!.
Then take it out of the oven, put the steak on a plate and tent it (tin foil cover) to let it rest while you cook the onions and deglaze the pan with the wine!. It is always good to let meat "rest" after cooking so all of the juices can settle into the meat!. Otherwise, the juice will just run all over your plate (which my dogs LOVE by the way because that's usually what they get in their dinner)!.
Enjoy - it sounds delicious!Www@FoodAQ@Com

What I did LAST night, I marinated them in a concoction of coca cola, beer, worchester sauce, little salt little pepper, poke holes all over steak, let the mixture soak for about 2 hours if you can!.!.!.!.!.mmmmm that coke will make it so tender!
I would cook it under the broiler, put some foil in your cast iron skillet and use it, not too close to the coil though!.
On top of the stove I would take onions, bell peppers pour a little of your marinate over them and sautee them, serve with steak, salad, baked tater, corn on cob, hot break and good old glass of wine or beer!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why not cook it on the stove, or just under the broiler!? You don't want to roast a ribeye, which is what the oven will do!.!.!.!.!. cast iron would be bestWww@FoodAQ@Com
