How long will a Turkey keep in the freezer?!


Question: How long will a Turkey keep in the freezer!?
I've had this 18lb bird in there since Thanksgiving that we never got around to making!.!.!. How the heck is it May already!?!? Is the bird still OK to cook or is it a lost cause!? Its been frozen the entire time I have had it in there but I have no idea what the shelf life is on those things!. I'd hate to throw it out if its still OK, but obviously don't want to get anyone sick either!. Advice!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Livin is correct, a turkey will still be "good" for a year in the freezer, possibly longer!.
The problem with frozen meat especially, is that it gradually loses its nutritional value and flavor the longer it is frozen!. One could theoretically eat meat that has been frozen for centuries, but the vitamins and nutrients that your body uses/needs would be severely diminished or non-existent!.
There's a general rule in our home that food that's been frozen over 60 days is not worth eating!.
Is it still good!? Yes!. Is it good for you!? Not really and it probably wont taste very good either, particularly if your freezer has had any kind of temperature fluctuations since Thanksgiving!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, up to a year it is still "good"!. I have had meat in my freezer much longer than that, though, and it was still good!. I once cooked a turkey that was possibly 3 years old, but I have never kept any other meat for that long!. So go ahead and cook it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It'll be fine!. We've done 1-year-old freezer bird before!. It did lose some flavor!.!.!.definitely not for VIPs but family and friends would be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as it stayed frozen, it's edible!.
(So was some mammoth meat that melted out
