I travel a lot and this saves so much money!. Variety is the key!. I like to put a lot of water, yogurt, fruit cups, bread, pb!. and different jellies, and cold cuts!. I also add bring different spices like oregano which is really good on ham to change things up a bit!. Cheeses are good also!. Buy a variety pack!. If you have different breads you can make breakfast sandwiches!. As far as sides, of course macaroni salad, potato or anything else!. I personally love cold baked beans, but remember you need a can opener!. I also love canned pineapple!. Condiments are a must!. Depending upon how long you're traveling you may want to make your sandwiches along the way!. Veggies are great to snack on!. Don't forget something salty like some sort of chips!. Think like a traveling picnic and that helps!. If it is not a long trip, less than 10 hours!. I make hot water in a thermos for tea or coffee or even hot cocoa!. Mix the coffee and cocoa and bring along some whip cream and you have mocha coffee!. It does not have to be boring!. Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com
For breakfast why don't you make these American style pancakes with a berry compot and yogurt the night before!.
The recipe
135g/4?oz plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
? tsp salt
2 tbsp caster sugar
130ml/4?fl oz milk
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 tbsp melted butter (allowed to cool slightly) or olive oil, plus extra for cooking
1!. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and caster sugar into a large bowl!. In a separate bowl or jug, lightly whisk together the milk and egg, then whisk in the melted butter!.
2!. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and, using a fork, beat until you have a smooth batter!. Any lumps will soon disappear with a little mixing!. Let the batter stand for a few minutes!.
3!. Heat a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat and add a knob of butter!. When it's melted, add a ladle of batter (or two if your frying pan is big enough to cook two pancakes at the same time)!. It will seem very thick but this is how it should be!. Wait until the top of the pancake begins to bubble, then turn it over and cook until both sides are golden brown and the pancake has risen to about 1cm (?in) thick!.
To make the compot just cut up some strawberries, blue berry's and raspberry, cook 2/3 of the fruit with 2 tbs of sugar and stir gently until its sticky and leave to cool!.
For lunch why don't you just make your favorite sandwiches and have a miniature picnic whilst stopping to enjoy the view!.
For dinner, why don't you make home-made pizza, with all your favorite toppings and eat later with chocolate and ice-cream!.
For the pizza
150g/5?oz self-raising flour
25g/1oz unsalted butter
30ml/1fl oz whole milk
Anything you like for the topping but have
Tomato puree and cheese ontop of the base before adding your toppings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
