Crockpot question?!

Question: Crockpot question!?
If you have one of those crockpots where the inside lifts out of the outer heating element can you still use the "pot" part if the heating element went KAPUT!? and if so, how can you use it w/o it breaking from heat!?

Some ceramics and some glazes have metalic ingredients, even though they may not look like metal!. You should contact the manufacturer to find out before putting it in a microwave!. I would not use it for the top of the stove, but you can probably use it like any other casserole dish in the oven (example: tuna noodle casserole with cheese sprinkled on top in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese)!. I would not use it like a metal pan or pyrex oven dish unless you know from the manufacturer it is oven-proof!. Otherwise, it may just crack and split open in the oven and may even "explode" if there are air bubbles within the ceramic!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with bubbles, the oven!. The problem is that if you don't heat the entire pot there will be a temperature difference between the top and bottom of the pot and it may crack some place in between!.
The lid will be fine in the oven too!. Just don't cool it nor the crock pot quickly when bringing it out of the oven!. (like poring water on it, or taking it out to the cold air)Www@FoodAQ@Com

i have one from several years ago where the heating element died and have used it in the oven often since then, though I do run really warm water all over it before putting anything into it and then into the oven!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you probably could use it in the oven!. I just ended up using mine as a giant storage bowl, too cheap to throw it away and too afraid to try it anywhere else!.LOLWww@FoodAQ@Com
