Yes, just make sure you do it correctly and don't get the buttercream mixture everywhere!
Heres my recipe which i use all the time to make a great butter-icing
140g butter, softened
280g icing sugar
1-2 tbsp milk
a few drops food colouring (if needed)
1!. Beat the butter in a large bowl until soft!. Add half the icing sugar and beat until smooth!.
2!. Then add the remaining icing sugar with one tablespoon of the milk!.
3!. Beat until creamy then add the food colouring and mix well!.
4!. Add extra icing sugar to thicken or a little extra milk to make more runny if necessary!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Are you speaking of a rotary egg beater or a hand mixer (electric)!. You can if it's electric!. You have to move it around the bowl instead of the other way around!. However if you don't like your kitchen looking like someone had a paintball gun fight with frosting, you might want to put the bowl in a DRY sink when you do the beating!. Just make sure the sink is dry and the faucet is not drippy!. Or if you have a HUGE bowl much higher than the height of your frosting, that will do too!. Start by whipping your butter (slightly soft real butter is best), having cut it in small chunks first!. You have the recipe so I won't elaborate further!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Sure you can!. I always use a hand mixer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Absolutely!. I've even made it by hand with just a fork!. You just have to make sure the butter is properly softened!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, no problem for a cake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
