How to cook FIddle Head ferns?!

Question: How to cook FIddle Head ferns!?
I've never had them before, but I've promised myself that I will continue to try new foods whenever I have a chance, so it's Fiddlehead fern time!!

Does anyone have a recipe they would recommend!? It needs to be vegetarian freindly as the other person eating them is vegetarian!

Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I love fiddleheads - and sadly they have a very short season and are not so easy to find where I live! I just simmer about 2 cups of them in an inch of water or so, in a covered pan!. Drain, and set aside!. Saute a bit of garlic in some olive oil (or a bit of butter, if you prefer), until the garlic is softened!. (about 5 minutes)!. Add your steamed fiddleheads and toss - add a bit of fresh black pepper and salt and cook for just another 2 to 3 minutes!.!.!.they are delicious!Www@FoodAQ@Com

CAUTION: You CANNOT eat unfurled fiddle heads!. You can the curled fiddle heads and you can eat them raw or cooked but do not eat too many raw!. The thiaminase enzyme attackes Vitamin B1 when eating the fiddles in large quantities!. Cooking destroys that enzyme!.
Experiment with the cooking!. Boil them for starters!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oh you are so lucky, they are soooo good!. I lived in Vermont and used to get them every year!.

Take your ferns and wash them good!.!.!.!.Take a skillet melt real butter and add garlic!.!.!.!.!.then slowly sautee them in it!.!.!.till they soften up a bit, but dont let them go mushy!.!.!.!.!.

This recipe is too good for words!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
