I bought a frozen fully cooked brisket - How do I reheat it?!
I bought a brisket for a friend's fundraiser, its about 15lbs and frozen!. Its been cooked & is wrapped in foil!.
I'm a beginner at cooking so I'm wondering how to go about heating this up in the oven, what temperature & how long, etc!. Do I need to add BBQ sauce or anything else!?
Is there anyway I can screw this up or is it pretty easy!?
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

First of all, DON'T PANIC!. It's hard to screw up brisket, if it's already been cooked!.
15 pounds is a LOT of brisket; do you intend to use it all up in a short time!? (I assume it's all one piece) If not, I don't recommend re-freezing cooked foods!. Plan to serve it for dinner one evening, then maybe use it for sandwiches for the next couple of days!. Unless you have a large (and hungry) family to feed, you might consider giving some of it away, or having guests over for dinner!
The best way to thaw it will be in the refrigerator!. Place it in a shallow pan (so juices don't leak into your fridge), and let it thaw overnight!. Since brisket is typically quite flat, it shouldn't take much longer than that!. Once it's thawed---or at least mostly thawed---you can re-heat it in a warm oven (say, 250-300 degrees) for a half hour or so!. Leave it in the foil (or re-wrap it) while you heat it, so it remains juicy!. also, don't panic if you still find a cool spot inside it---it's fully cooked, so nobody's going to get sick!.
As for how to serve it (BBQ sauce, whatever): it depends on what you like!. I don't know if the brisket was slow-roasted, simmered, smoked, steamed, etc!. If you feel that it needs some additional flavor or moisture, then go ahead and add some BBQ sauce, A-1 steak sauce, or even (canned) beef gravy!. Whatever you like!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Since it's already cooked, it shouldn't be too hard to reheat!. Do it either in the oven or boil it!. I don't know if it's seasoned or not, so I can';t tell you whether or not you should season it!.
You need to defrost it first!. Let it sit in your fridge for about a day or two until it's completely defrosted!.
If you want to put it in the oven, preheat the oven to 350 degrees place brisket on rack in roasting pan!. Add enough water to touch top of rack!. Cover tightly!. Bake 1 hour!. Add vegetables if desired!. Cover and continue baking until fork tender!. Total cooking time 2-3 hours, depending on size!.
If you want to boil it, put it in a large dutch oven with enough water to cover by 3 inches!. Add some vegetables!. Bring to a rolling boil, reduce to a low boil and cook 2 1/2-3 hours or until brisket is tender at the thickest part!. The meat is fully cooked when the fibers begin to loosen and a fork can be inserted easily into the meat!. Do not rush this process, as a tender brisket is imperative!. Remove the brisket from the pot and place on a large baking pan!. Strain the poaching liquid into a stockpot and discard the poaching ingredients!. Return the poaching liquid to the dutch oven!. Bring the stock to a boil, reduce to simmer and cook until vegetables are tender to the fork and have absorbed the flavor of the brisket, approximately 20 minutes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Brisket can be very, very tricky to cook as it is a tough piece of meat but if made right (low and slow) it is very tender!. Anyway, since yours is already cooked reheat it low and slow!. Didn't it come with directions for reheating!? You're probably going to have to unwrap the foil to figure if it is seasoned and if it is not use seasonings of your choice, I would go with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder!. You can baste BBQ sauce the last few minutes of grilling or just serve on the side!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you aren't careful, you can screw it up, but it's pretty easy if you watch what you're doing!.
I agree, I'd defrost it in fridge for a day or so, then heat in a 300 degree oven still wrapped in the foil on a baking sheet, checking every 20-30 minutes to make sure it's not cooking again!. If there are juices in the bottom of the foil, baste the meat before rewrapping!. I like it plain, but you might like a little sauce on it after you reheat!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am surprised there aren't any cooking instructions in the fine print on the label!. There generally is!.!.
BBQ sauce added to it certainly won't hurt it!Www@FoodAQ@Com
