How much more Cream Cheese?!
Hey, I am making my first cheese cake, and i have some questions about the recipe!.!.!.
1) it calls for 1 pound of chream cheese!. I have a container of 250grams, how much more do i need to make it 1 pound!?
2) It says to crush oreo cookies and butter together to make the crust!. I am assuming that it is just the oreo cookie waffers (not with the cream filling) that i would use to make the curst!? as the cream filling would probably make the crust strange!.
3) it says to bake for 40-45minutes OR "until the center is almost set" how do i know if the center is almost set!? place a toothpick in it!?
Thanks guys!.!.!. I'm making it for my boyfriends family so i dont want to mess it up!.

(1) 250 grams is just a hair more than 1/2 a pound!.!.!.!.so you need about twice as much as you have now!.
(2) When making the crust for cheesecake, I have always used the whole oreo, but I use a food processor to crush them evenly!.
(3) The toothpick test doesn't really work for cheesecake!. You just want to make sure it is not really runny, but it will still be a little jiggly!.
To keep it from cracking!.!.!.!.!.!.!.
Place your cake pan in another pan with a little water in it, while in the oven
when it is done, turn off the oven, crack the oven door slightly and let it cool slowly!. Cheesecakes tend to crack when they cool off too fast!.

Here are some tips for making cheese cake!. Make sure all the ingredients are at room tempature before mixing!. When mixing, mix slow and do not incorporate a lot of air as it will produce bubbles in the cake!. I use oreo piecrust and mix them with the butter before I press them in a spring form pan!. also use a water bath when baking the cake!. This prevents the cheese cake form cooking to fast and cracking!. also once you have baked it the required time turn the oven off and let the cake sit in the oven until cool!. At that time transfer the cake to a refridgeator for at least 24 hours!.

You need 203 more grams, I'm not too sure about the crust and you'll know its done if the center doesn't jiggle when you move it!. Just be careful that it doesn't crack!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
im sure you have found out the cream cheese
as far as the oreo dont bother!.!.!.just buy the already made one from the grocery store!.!.!.!.!.its ready to serve!.!.!.yes oreo!.
and center being set would mean; (after you combine the cream cheese and stuff its more runny) it needs to "set" get harder!.!.!.!.!.!.so if you jiggle it a little and it really shouldnt move too much!.!.!.!.!.I WOULD go by the recipe!.!.!.thats how you learn to cook!.!.!.by experience and you can tweak things here and there NEXT time depending on what you think!
AND REMEMBER!!!!!! dont worry if it doesnt come out the best (which it will cuz its a little hard to mess up) you can either buy a pie from a good resturant or make another one, or just tell em sorry it was my first cheesecake!
I REALLY SUGGEST the pre-made orea cookie crust!.!.!.!.can be found at major grocery store (some smaller one (discount ones)) may not have it!Www@FoodAQ@Com
