Answers:
You can add salt to lemonade, if you want to cut the tartness of the lemon!. Typically, though, I'd avoid it unless the lemon is EXTREMELY tart, and then I'd add no more than 1/8 teaspoon per gallon!. The reason for the salt is to 'trick' the taste buds into thinking the lemonade is not as tart or bitter, as the receptors for sour, bitter, and salty all use the same chemical processes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, salt in lemonade gets rid of the funky aftertaste if you just add sugar!. Adding salt makes it go down smoother, like water!. It depends on how you make lemonade, for me its:
water
lemon juice
sugar
a pinch of salt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
water
lemon juice
sugar
a pinch of salt!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
yeah, usually people add a ton of sugar and just a pinch of salt!. it seems kind of pointless but it must taste better in some way because it's in a lot of other recipes for cookies, cakes, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I've never heard of anyone adding salt to lemonade!. Of course, we add sugar but not salt! Why would anyone add salt to lemonade - and please don't say it's because of using lemon and salt chasers with tequila!Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yeah my ex boyfriend used to drink lemonade with sugar and then take a small taste of salt to 'even' out his taste buds (roll eyes)!Www@FoodAQ@Com
