Answers:
You can leave it out altogether or you can use almond extract, lemon zest, or orange zest!. Vanilla is just a flavor enhancer!. Quite a lovely bunch on Answers today, huh!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vanilla is one of the most basic flavorings in the kitchen, the only thing you can substitute for it is something that you're probably even less likely to have, such as almond extract!. The extract doesn't do anything to the consistancy of the cookie, so it won't completly ruin them to not have it (unlike baking soda), but it will affect the flavor!. I would maybe add a little brown sugar!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vanilla extract is the simple, everyday kitchen something that you should have on hand for adding flavor to baked goods and desserts!. There certainly is nothing simpler that you are likely to have on hand to take its place!. Almond extract, rum, amaretto, Grand Marnier, framboise, or any of dozens of other extracts, essences, brandies, or liqueurs could stand in for vanilla in certain recipes — accentuating and blending flavors!. But whereas vanilla is neutral and works in almost any sweet recipe, most of the other possible flavorings have a signature flavor of their own, and you’ll want to be sure the one you choose is compatible with what you’re cooking!.

Another choice is a product called Fiori di Sicilia, literally, the essence of Sicilian flowers!. We know people who use it as a change of pace from vanilla, as it has the same neutral character that works well in most sweet dishes!. But, of course, it is much less common than vanilla, and we’re guessing that if you don’t have vanilla cluttering up your pantry, the chances of stumbling across a bottle of Fiori di Sicilia are pretty remote!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly!? Nothing will be as good!. I'd go get some!. And get the real kind, not the imitation!. I find that if you go to price club type stores (BJs, Sams, Costco) you can get large quantities of it for much less comparatively than they charge you for the tiny bottle you get in the supermarket!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vanilla powder is a popular alternative to vanilla extract!. Even though you mentioned you might not have any vanilla items, vanilla powder is the same stuff you might throw in your coffee!.

If you don't have vanilla powder, you can always get it online!.

You can certainly omit it altogether!. A substitution for vanilla is vanilla sugar!. If you don't have that, you can substitue another extract but it may change the flavor of the cookies!. I'd use butter extract!.

You can bake it without it but you would the taste that you are expecting!.!.!.!.vanilla extract gives you better taste!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.GOOD LUCKWww@FoodAQ@Com

You can put almond extract if you have it!. This is a delicious substitute!.

Even better if you throw some poppyseeds in there!. Yum!Www@FoodAQ@Com

almond extract, lemon extract, orange extract - you could try to omit, but I always find them a bit bland without it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You could try using another extract - like almond!. Just to give it a different flavor!. I wouldn't recommend leaving out some type of extract, though!. It'll leave the cookies very bland!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Either almond, orange or lemon extracts will do, just changes the flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
