Bitter cole slaw?!

Question: Bitter cole slaw!?
I bought some slaw and it has this really potent tang to it, can't figure out if it is the cabbage or how it was dressed!. Is just cabbage n carrot, a light dressing of some milky type!. Is there anything I can add to cut the bight!? I have the usuals around the house; milk, juice, sugar, apple vinigar, etc!. I just don't want to make it worse!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I would use sugar, since its already milky sauce!. But if the sauce is thick and can be "watered down" so to speak apple juice is good too!. I always use sugar in my slaw, but I'm from the south and we like our slaw and our tea sweet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It probably has alot of vinegar in there, or you just had some overly-bitter cabbage in it:) You'll need to add some sugar, but dissolved in liquid so it coats the entire slaw!. Maybe whisk a little sugar into some olive oil, or a very light juice; dip a few pieces of the slaw in there and see if it helps, before you add it to the whole bowl!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it sounds like its either got too much vinnegar in it, or the mayo has started to turn (I think turned-mayo tastes like a brown paper bag soaked in a wet ashtray BLECH!!!)

Does it smell "off!?" If not, try adding a pinch of sugar, mix!.!.taste!.!.and repeat if neccesary until you've got the taste you want!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

add sugar to taste, until it's just the bitterness you want!.!.!.probably too much vinegarWww@FoodAQ@Com

Sound like the cabbage is getting old!. (think sauerkraut)

It may not be salvageable!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Add sugar!Www@FoodAQ@Com

maybe mayonnaise or black pepper and more sugar!. Or just put more cabbage and carrots in it and drown out the bitternessWww@FoodAQ@Com
