I think your location has an affect on price!. If you're in the "country", you can't charge as much as you can in the "city" or even the "suburbs"!. What you charge also depends upon what it costs you to make each pie!. Does your family grow the rhubarb and/or the strawberries!? The cost of flour and sugar have definitely gone up this year!. If you've been charging the $8 and $10 for the last couple years, I'm sure your returning customers would understand the cost going up!. You might even put a nice simple sign near your pies stating that you've had to increase the price due to the cost involved!. My local bakery had to increase most of their breads by 30% in March due to their increased costs!.!.!.I still go there as much as before because their products are superior to other local bakeries!.

I'd increase my price - but it might be by $2 or a different #!. I'd have to know more about the costs and your area!. The worst thing that could happen is your pies don't sell because you increase the price too much!.

Good luck!. I just finished enjoying my strawberry/rhubarb crisp last night!Www@FoodAQ@Com

The question is not related to food, but economics!. To determine price, you gauge supply and demand, as well as expenses vs!. income!. How much does it cost you to make the pies!? Remember in addition to raw materials you have to calculate energy costs, supplies, transportation, and labor (assign a value to your time)!. if you were running a real business this would all fall under "overhead!." Whatever it costs you to make a pie, you need to sell it for more to realize any profit!. also, when you sell the pies, do you ever have any left unsold!? Or do they sell out in the first 10 minutes and customers go wanting!? If the answer to the first question is yes, then you may have your price at close to the top point it can be!. If your answer to the 2nd question is yes, then you could probably raise your price a little bit and make Mom happy and pocket a little more change for yourself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try to look at it this way!. If you cut the plain one into 1/8ths, that's only $1 a slice!. What would you expect to pay to get one slice from the local bakery!? If you do raise the price, go for maybe $10 and $12!. Food's getting more expensive and you have to cover your butt too!. The loyal ones will understand and still buy them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was thinking $10 for the rhubarb, so maybe $12 for the SR!. I think that's totally reasonable for homemade pies!!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
