Can you thaw a whole chicken in a microwave?!

Question: Can you thaw a whole chicken in a microwave!?
If so, its a 6 pound chicken, how long does it take to thaw!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It says it takes about 45 minutes on my microwave, on the auto-defrost setting!. (but all microwaves are different, of course!.) I have never tried to defrost one all the way - from personal experience as food gets close to the end of defrosting in a microwave the outside will start to cook!. I would try defrosting it half to 3/4 of the way and then let it defrost in the fridge the rest of the way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A 6 pound chicken will take a while to thaw in the microwave!. At least an hour!.

I suggest you to thaw only part of the chicken in the microwave, not all of it!. After 2/3 or 3/4 of the chicken has been thawed, leave it in a bowl with warm water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it would take all day on the counter, i would not put it in the microwave, but you can stick it in the oven still a bit frozen!. leave it on the counter until ready to put in the oven then add about 30 min!. to your cook time!.!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's better to put the chicken into a bowl into a sink and run cold water over it slowly!. The water from the faucet should be about 1/4" thick!. That is what we do in the restaurant business!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

30 minutesWww@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't do it!.!.!.I would soak the chicken in a large bowl of salted water!.!.!.takes an hour or so to defrost!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
