How can I tell if my brownies are done without a toothpick?!

Question: How can I tell if my brownies are done without a toothpick!?
Hi,

I'm making brownies and I just realized that I do not have any toothpicks to use to test the doneness of the brownies!. I've heard not to use a fork because it's ineffective!. Do any of you have any other suggestions!?!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
You cannot tell the done-ness of brownies by using a toothpick (or a fork)!. Especially if your making fudge ones!

First, I go off of the suggested baking time (either on the box or recipe)!. Then when the time is up, I just take a look at the edges and top!. If the edges have pulled away a bit and the top look done -- then they're ready to come out of the oven!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Take your hand and pat on it
if it springs back its done
if not
you need to put it in for a little longer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

use a butter knife slip it in the center if it comes out clean they are ready!.!.!.!.also there will be cracks on the surface !.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When the top of the crust just barley cracks!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.! and you can push down,,,,,,,,,,and it springs up!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.! Good Luck!=)Www@FoodAQ@Com

use a fork anyways!.!.!. um use a skewer!.!.!.!.!. or u could just check to seee when they look about done ie getting crispyish on the topWww@FoodAQ@Com

idk why a fork would be ineffective!.!.!. it should work the same as a toothpickWww@FoodAQ@Com

uhmmmmmm!.!.!.!. a fork is fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Poke it fast with your hand!. Thats what i doWww@FoodAQ@Com

use a knife the whole thing your lookin for is any brownie come up sticks to it!Www@FoodAQ@Com
