Hot dog Toppings....?!
Hello! My husband has requested Chili Cheese Hotdogs for his birthday cookout with family!. So, two questions:
Does anybody have a good recipe for the Chili topping (I'm assuming that it's slightly different than traditional chili)!?
And!.!.!.what are some other good toppings I can offer our guests!? I've heard saurcraut is a good toping, but I've never had it!. I could use a recipe for that too!!
Obviously we'll have the traditional topings also!.!.!.!.mustard, relish, ketcup, onions, etc!.
Thanks for your help!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

My grandma makes the best hot dog sauce ever, but I'm seriously sworn to secrecy!. I wish I could give it to you =[
I saw on television once that people put mayonnaise and pickled okra on their hot dogs!. I've never had it, but it sounds interesting!. also, those crispy fried onion strips that you put on casseroles would probably be good too!.
I read a recipe too where you wrap the hot dog in bacon, grill it, then add pinto beans, onions, jalapenos, and chopped tomatoes to make kind of a "Southwest" hot dog!. My boyfriend LOVES hot sauce, and he puts hot sauce on his hot dogs!.!.!. but then again, he eats it on everything!.
Your cookout sounds like fun! It'll be like a hot dog bar =]Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can buy canned chili beans (with or without meat) or there is a hot dog chili and can be found right by the chili beans!. I've never had anything on my chili dogs other than the chili beans, cheese, hot dog and the bun!. But you could offer relish, diced onions, green chilis, mustard, ketchup etc for those who may want a plain hot dog instead of a chili dog!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well if I am just having a regular hot dog, then I will just put a lot of ketchup, and if I am having like a chili dog, I will get the hot dog all set up on my plate, and ladle chili all over it, and then some cheese and onions, and cut it up like it is a big piece of chicken or something, both ways they are delicious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Chili made without beans!. Chop the buger very fine too to allow it to be smooth on the dogs as a topping!.
Saurkraut is great, just buy some from the deli case in the market, bring it to a boil on the stove and serve!. If you do not boil it slightly, diarreah may occur!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would suggest buying a can or jar of chili with NO BEANS for the hot dogs!. You can also buy sauerkraut in a can on the shelf or in a bag near the dairy section of grocery store!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Turkey Black bean chili would be delicious!. also stove fried potatoes!. Boil yukon gold potatoes, season & slice thinly, then fry in oil till semi crispy!.Makes a yummy topping!.
