Can I substitute vegetable oil for butter?!


Question: Can I substitute vegetable oil for butter!?
I am baking chocolate chip cookies, and I ran out of butter!. No, I don't have shortening or margarine!. Just veggie oil!.!.!.

You need butter or shortening!.!.!. They are fats that are semi-solid at room temperature, and they allow you to suspend the sugar in fat!.!.!. You start every cookie recipe by creaming the butter or shortening, and since oil is liquid at room temperature this is impossible!.!.!.

Long story short, you can't substitute oil for shortening or butter in a cookie recipe!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

oh sorry- then if you mean to use them in the actual recipe, they might tast a little bitter!. i wouldn't reccomend using it!.
