Can one make a candle using animal fat?!

Question: Can one make a candle using animal fat!?
I usually drain the fat into a tin can from ground beef and simmering meat instead of pouring it down the sink!. If I stuck a wick in there, would it burn like a candle after it hardened!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Whale oil was once the used as the main fuel source for lanterns in the U!.S!. So, yes you can!. However, I don't think ground beef fat is of the right quality to make a candle!. It would probably have to be processed further!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think that using animal fat that has been rendered from cooking will create a foul smell!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, it would not make for a good smelling candle either!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
