I worked in a Japanese fusion restaurant, and we didn't put anything in the water!. We just soaked the onions in ice water over night!. The chef said it takes away the bitter flavor, and most of the bad smell!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i dont know what u r exactly asking but to taste onion better, fry it on oil till it became red, or

add tomato sauce, or spray some pepper powder or chat powder to eat onion as salad, okay its tastes better also with black salt, it will available in market

and ha always cut them thin slices and not fat ones, okayWww@FoodAQ@Com

I think I know what you are referring to - they use cumin, paprika, and a tiny tiny pinch of curry powder (not sure what kind though)!. also you can add a little lemon juice!. I LOVE those onions!. also try it with vidalia (sweet) onions!. Yumm!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

you might want to "caramelize" your onions!. heat olive oil in a pan and add onions!. wait for them to brown and wilt!. the natural sugars of the onion are released when you do this!.!.!.which makes the onion sweet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Simply try putting them in the fridge for a while before putting them in your salad!. That takes a lot of the "strong" taste out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Balancing out the flavor with something else like a little sugar or strawberries!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
