Barbecued Venison?!

Question: Barbecued Venison!?
I have about 2 lbs!. of ground frozen venison that was given to me!. I want to make barbecue out of it for sandwiches; kind of like "Sloppy Joes!."

Do I make it the same way I would if I were using other types of ground meat!? I am thinking of putting it in a crock pot and cooking it slow for a day or so, then just adding barbecue sauce; Is there a special recipe for barbecue venison that I could use!? Any experienced "venison cooks" out there with some tips or suggestions!? Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The crock pot is a great idea!. Since venison is so lean, it tends to get chewier and tougher the quicker it is cooked!. I agree with the person who suggested throwing in bacon!. The reason I like that is because the venison is so lean, the bacon adds that fatty flavor and also adds a salty edge!. I like to buy smoked bacon too!. I use a tangy BBQ sauce, onions, green pepper (both finely chopped so they cook down into the sloppy joe), and pepper, onion and garlic powder to taste!. Serve it with big slices of tomato on hoagie buns!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you have some bacon handy it would be good to brown the venison in bacon grease!. the meat is much leaner than beef its easy to dry out, mix in some minced onion and bell pepper and smother with your bbq sauceWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, I would make it the same way as you would w/ other meat!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
