All you need is a pot and some water, most bags of rice will give you directions on a water to rice ratio and cooking time and so on!. Most rice is pretty much 2 parts water to 1 part rice!. White rice cooks the quickest I think!. Brown rice takes about 40, Basmati takes about 20 or 30, I can't really remember and I don't know about white rice because I don't use it!. As someone already said, don't check on it often, just leave it alone until about 5 min before it's supposed to be done and then check it because nobody's stove is quite the same!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is so simple; cooking rice is one of the easiest things that I can do in my kitchen!

All you need to know is:
ONE CUP RICE, WATER IS TWICE!.

Keep an eye on it while it is cooking; sometimes you may need to adjust the water a tad bit if it looks like the water may run out before the rice is done - but if you add two cups of water for every cup of rice, this is pretty much accurate!.

Let the water all absorb into the rice well - keep a close eye on it so that the water does not all absorb and then the rice will start to burn!.

Once you cook it a few times, it will come easy to you!. One more thing, the fewer times that you take the lid off to check it, the better it will be and the faster it will cook; every time you take the lid off you let the steam out that is cooking it!. So it may take a few times of cooking it to get the hang of about when it will be getting close to being done!.

P!.S!. Brown rice is best; it still has all the nutrients in it that have been taken out of white rice!. :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I cook it in the microwave!. One cup rice, 2 cups water!. Five minutes on high power, then 15 mins on 30% power!. The directions I saw said 5 minutes on high, then 15 minutes on 50%, but the water boiled over and the rice was dry when I tried it in my microwave!. Mine is 1000 watts!. Experiment and have fun!

P!.S!. This is for white rice!. Brown rice needs 30-40 minutes during the second stage, on 30-50%!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

All you really need is a boiling pan with a lid (or you can put aplate on top) but as a chef i perfer the lid boil the rice and turn the heat on low to let the rice soak up the water to boil follow the directions but i usual put 1/4 cup more water than riceWww@FoodAQ@Com

Just use a saucepan w/ a tight-fitting lid!. Easy and the saucepan can be used for other things!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
